Smitten Again? Sarah Ferguson Gushes Over 'Handsome Prince' Andrew as She Recalls Duo's 1986 'Cinderella' Wedding
Sarah Ferguson is feeling nostalgic about her 1986 "Cinderella" wedding to Prince Andrew at London's ancient Westminster Abbey.
"I came down the aisle and came out a princess. My heart is full with belief that anything is possible; before that, I was working in an art gallery, and it took me 45 minutes to get to work," the ex-royal shared on her podcast, "Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah."
"And there I was walking up the aisle at Westminster Abbey. I spent the night at Clarence House, and everyone on the streets was chanting, 'Fergie, Fergie!' I was watching Cinderella with the girls the other day, and I said to the girls, 'I did that!'" the Duke of York's ex-wife observed.
The pair first met in the 1960s as children before becoming reacquainted in 1985, and after a whirlwind romance, the then-fourth in line to the British throne proposed to the curator. Their wedding in July 1986 was the first major royal marriage since Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales, five years earlier, and its pageantry captured the imagination of Britain.
"I got in my glass coach, and my father said to me, 'What do we do now' and I said, 'I don't know; I've never done this before,' but I just got on with it. I was totally in love with my handsome prince," Sarah continued.
The Duchess of York gave birth to Princess Beatrice in 1988, and Princess Eugenie followed in 1990.
Although the union rapidly disintegrated and the couple divorced 10 years later, they have remained good friends. Sarah moved into Royal Lodge with her ex in 2008, and she has been his roommate ever since.
Since the pair have remained such good friends, many commentators have hinted that remarriage could possibly be in the cards at some point. However, these speculations vanished after the Duke's 2019 BBC Newsnight interview where he spoke about his relationship with deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Sarah was also a friend of the disgraced financier, and matters only got worse when Virginia Giuffre stepped forward to accuse Andrew of sexual assault that same year.
Daily Mail reported on Sarah's podcast.
