'United in Outrage': Royal Family Rally Behind King Charles and Kate Middleton After 'Royal Racist' Reveal 2.0
The British royal family is not playing around this time when it comes to more racism claims stemming from Omid Scobie's Prince Harry and Meghan Markle-centric book, Endgame. Senior royals are rallying being King Charles III and Kate, Princess of Wales, as both were named in the now-pulled Dutch edition of the tome as being not one but two major royals who allegedly questioned the future Prince Archie's skin color in 2019.
"As a translator, I translate what is in front of me. The names of the royals were there in black and white. I did not add them," the translator of the Dutch version, Saskia Peeters, spilled.
In the wake of the revelation, royal insiders have stepped forward to share how the Royal Household and the King's entire court are in "utter dismay," and unlike in past situations, "legal action" is strongly being considered by the monarch's attorneys.
On the flip side, sources close to Harry and Meghan are also speaking out to remind everyone that neither of the royal rebels intended to ever name the singular "royal racist" from their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview. In the initial response to that explosive primetime sit-down, the late Queen Elizabeth II's press office stated: "The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately," before observing: "Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members."
Broadcaster Piers Morgan decided to name Charles III and Kate on his program, Piers Morgan Uncensored, although the information was widely available online beforehand. "I'm outraged too — that the rest of the British media hasn't done the same! Why should British people be barred from knowing what Dutch people know about OUR royal family?" Morgan posted on X.
Both the King and the Princess of Wales continued with their engagements in the wake of the news, and neither gave any hints that the claim was affecting them. Prince William accompanied his wife to the Royal Variety Performance last night and appeared to chuckle when reporters shouted at him to respond to the revelation. The monarch is in Dubai, where he is attending the COP28 climate change summit — but he also ignored requests for comment.
As The Royal Observer previously reported, royal expert Phil Dampier said that he found it "very hard to believe that this error occurred due to a problem with the translation," while veteran royal reporter Michael Cole believes the spill is nothing more than a "publicity stunt" on Scobie's part to drive more attention toward the tome to increase sales.
