The Royal Family Includes 'Shady' Homage to Prince Harry's 'Spare' in New Glossy Queen Camilla Video
A glossy new video of Queen Camilla lauding young writers in a writing competition was released by the palace, and although certainly in praise of a good cause, it may have shaded Prince Harry in the process.
"Last week, The Queen hosted finalists and their families, alongside some special celebrity guests, for an exciting event at Buckingham Palace to award young authors with the coveted 500 Words prize," the clip's captions read. "The creative writing competition encourages children, 5-11 years old, to write a fictional story — using 500 words or fewer."
Viewers were quick to catch an audio recorded on a table in the first frame of the video that was labeled "spare," which was of course the name of the Duke of Sussex's bestselling memoir last year.
The comments section for the video on Instagram was filled to the brim with laughing emojis as eagle-eyed commenters pointed out the hidden "shade."
However, there were also many critiques of Her Majesty, with one user observing: "Sorry, but every time they mention 'Her Majesty The Queen,' I expect Queen Elizabeth II, she's the real Queen. Irreplaceable."
Many more critics of the Queen continue to take offense to her title. Although she is a "Queen Consort," Camilla's correct style and address is "Her Majesty The Queen" as long as King Charles III is living. If she were to become a widow, her title would change to "Her Majesty Queen Camilla," since Kate, Princess of Wales, would then be "Her Majesty The Queen." In the ancient code of the monarchy, Elizabeth II was essentially a "female king" or "Queen Regnant."
The Queen "has much to hate" about her stepson when it comes to Spare, according to one royal insider. The Duke of Sussex "laid into" his stepmother in the tome by accusing her of using himself and other royals in a "negative press spin" to make herself look good. He referred to her as "dangerous" and detailed how both he and allegedly Prince William begged a then-Prince Charles "not to marry her" in 2005.
"I had complex feelings about gaining a stepparent who, I believed, had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar," the fiery-haired prince wrote.
Despite the show of togetherness Harry and allegedly William put on in front of the press back then, the bitterness Harry felt toward his stepmother-to-be was not longstanding, as he claims he wanted his father and Camilla "to be happy" before ominously adding: "Maybe she’d be less dangerous if she was happy?"
It is believed that Harry and Queen Camilla have not spoken to one another since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September 2022.
