Prince Harry's attempts to reach out to his father, King Charles, are reportedly being ignored, and experts say there are two simple reasons behind the royal silence. One, they argue, has to do with Harry’s legal fight to get his royal security back, which has put him at odds with Charles, as he is suing the King's ministers.

As reported by the Daily Express, royal expert Sarah Hewson explained, “There is absolutely no way that the King could be seen to be intervening in this at all. Even an innocuous comment that could have been interpreted in a way and find its way into evidence in the court by Prince Harry's barrister.” The expert added, “The King can't have conversations with him. And we are learning that the distance between them is perhaps greater than ever.”

Hewson's claims were echoed by another royal expert. Cameron Walker said, “The King sees it really as his duty as head of state that he should not get involved with the judicial system. And I think he may well have been advised that he probably shouldn't take his son's calls in case this court case is brought up, in case he is forced to say something to Prince Harry.” Walker also thinks there's a second reason— King might be worried that, after Harry’s 2023 memoir Spare, private talks would make it to another book.

As reported by The Sun, Walker said, “I think that is what's making the royal family and those close to them paranoid about talking to Prince Harry, particularly on [what] could be a fundamental constitutional issue such as this.” It has been reported that the father and son have not met each other since Harry visited him in February last year, after his cancer diagnosis. Coming back to Harry's court hearing, the Prince recently shared that the removal of his security was a calculated plan to pressure him and his wife, Meghan Markle, into returning to royal life.

For Harry, who was in London from April 8-9, the fight for security isn’t just about safety—it's also a means to have his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, share a bond with their cousins in the UK. A source explained, “He wants to ensure the safety of himself and his family while in the UK so his children can know his home country and so he can help support his patronages and their important work.” On the second day of his two-day court proceeding, his lawyer, Shaheed Fatima KC, told the court, “There is a person sitting behind me whose safety, whose security, and whose life is at stake.” She added, “He is getting a special bespoke process when he knows and has experienced a process that is manifestly inferior in every respect.”
