Prince Harry has never quite been a traditional royal. His wild days today are mostly behind him having married Meghan Markle and becoming the father to two kids. In his younger years, however, he found himself in several awkward situations. One such incident occurred during a night out in Croatia, where Harry got a little too caught up in the party atmosphere. As he danced the night away, he fell head first into a pool, still clad in jeans and a button-up shirt.

Harry was on a lads’ trip in Hvar and the unexpected plunge into the pool came at Veneranda, an open-air club, as reported by E! News. In the grainy video that went viral, he is seen barefoot, dancing along the pool’s edge, but it wasn’t a wild, celebratory leap. Instead, Harry lost his balance, quickly deciding to dive in on purpose rather than awkwardly topple in. One of his friends immediately followed and jumped in after him. Harry wasn’t down for long—laughing, he bounced right back up, dripping wet in his clothes, but ready to carry on. However, had it not been for a couple of inches, he would have hit his head on a wooden plank in the pool.

In another drunk mishap, Harry set off a panic alarm at St James’s Palace after a night of heavy drinking, as revealed by a former soldier. The Duke of Sussex, stumbling back from a night out, ended up in a sentry box, accidentally pressing the emergency button. Harry was lying on the ground when three armed Guards Division soldiers arrived on the scene. Soon after, two other officers showed up and assisted the Prince in returning to his apartment safely. One of the soldiers said, “He was a mess, he was on the floor, drooling on himself. When we tried to get him up, he was uncooperative and abusive.”

At the time of the sentry box incident, in January 2012, Harry was 27 and was serving in the Army. He was off duty that night and believed to be out with some civilian friends. As reported by The Sun, the ex-soldier said, “It was around midnight. An alarm went off in the guard room, but we’d never heard it before. One of the senior lads said it was one of the sentry boxes. Within a couple of minutes, three of us who were in the QRF were out the door. There were two Met Police guys there as well. But instead of an intruder or terrorist, we found Prince Harry." He added, “He was wearing tight blue chinos and a white shirt, with a dark jumper over it. He was slurring his words, not making any sense."

The source revealed that when they escorted him to his apartment, that too was a complete mess. He said, “It was like student digs, it was s**t. The double bed was unmade, there were clothes and socks over the floor, cans of lager and dirty coffee cups lying around and packs of cigs.” He shared that the team helped Harry into his bed, where the royal promptly passed out.

In May 2021, Harry himself opened up about his wild partying days on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard. He also recalled a notorious trip to Las Vegas in 2012, just months after the sentry box incident, where he ended up playing strip billiards following an entire day of heavy drinking.
