Queen Mary of Denmark Reunites With King Frederik After Split Rumors: Photos
Queen Mary of Denmark, 52, fresh from her tour of Brazil, stepped out with King Frederik X, 56, for a glamorous event held at Nordatlantens Beygge in Copenhagen on Wednesday, October 9. The King and Queen hosted a reception for Iceland's President Halla Tómasdóttir and First Gentleman Björn Skúlason, who are currently on a two-day State Visit to the Scandinavian nation.
The gala event provided an opportunity for the stylish Australian-born Danish Queen to showcase her latest fashion choices. The consort chose a stylish business casual look, pairing high-waisted black trousers with a cream blouse and black coat. She completed the outfit with patent pointed-toe pumps and a small black clutch.
Unfortunately, not all went as planned in the style department as Her Majesty appeared to have lipstick smudged over her teeth, leading someone on X to state, "It is painfully obvious she has no idea it is there."
However, Frederik X's rumored affair with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova is still "plaguing" Their Majesties in the PR department one year after the news broke.
This led the King's alleged lover to take to social media to defend her name and reputation.
"I categorically deny the statements that suggest a romantic relationship between Prince Frederick and me," Casanova shared on her Instagram. "Any statement of this type not only completely lacks the truth but also misrepresents the facts in a malicious manner. This is already in the hands of my lawyers, who will take care of the pertinent steps to protect my right to honor, truth, and privacy."
In April, Frederik and Mary unveiled their inaugural official gala portrait. However, some royal enthusiasts raised allegations of photoshopping against the couple. One commenter remarked, "Was this photoshopped? It seems like they were photographed separately and then merged together."
Despite such ups and downs, the crown prince and crown princess memorably married in a lavish wedding in 2004 after a four-year romance, and always "try and keep their duties at the forefront" of their marriage. The future king of the Scandinavian nation first met Mary, an Australian advertising executive, during the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Their desire to wed received the blessing of Denmark's monarch and Frederik's mother, Queen Margrethe II, in 2003.
The pair went on to have four children together, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine. Frederik became the King of Denmark upon the abdication of Margrethe II on January 14.
Before Frederik X's accession, the duo was the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark, which is what they were expected to remain until the death of Margrethe. Some analysts allege the elderly Queen may have stepped down to "save" Mary and Frederik's union.
Daily Mail reported on Mary and Frederik's joint appearance.
