Shocking Royal Update: Queen Camilla's Son Gives Blunt, 5-Word Response When Asked About State of King Charles' Cancer Battle
Kate, Princess of Wales managed to kick her cancer struggle, but the same cannot be said for her father-in-law, King Charles III. Now, Queen Camilla's son, Tom Parker-Bowles, gave a rare health update on His Majesty's condition, and he summed everything up in a blunt, five-word response.
"Cancer, it really is a b------" the food critic told an outlet. "The King's having the best treatment. He's a great man and a tough man, and you've just got to get on with it. Of course, anyone who has someone they love with cancer is going to worry."
In response to how the Queen was handling her husband's struggle, Parker-Bowles said, "She's tough, my mother."
Despite any concerns about his prolonged treatment, the monarch is "not slowing down" in a role that lasts for a lifetime, in sickness or good health.
From October 18 to 26, the King and Queen will tour Australia. The trip will also take in Samoa, which is hosting this year's annual CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting).
The Buckingham Palace Press Office shared in a statement, "The King's visit to Australia will be His Majesty’s first to a realm as monarch, whilst the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa is the first the King will attend as Head of the Commonwealth."
It is typically customary for a royal tour to Australia to include New Zealand. However, the head of state's inaugural trip down under as monarch will only include an additional stop in Samoa this October.
During a meeting with the Kiwi nation's women's rugby union on Wednesday, September 11, His Majesty shared, "I am extremely sorry I can't come to New Zealand in [late] October because of doctor's orders."
"But I hope there will be another excuse before too long," the monarch added.
The King, when heir to the throne, last visited the nation in November 2019 along with Queen Camilla, then-Duchess of Cornwall. Australia will also be Their Majesties' first joint tour of a Commonwealth realm since the King's accession to the throne two years ago.
King Charles also memorably toured New Zealand (and Australia) for six weeks in the spring of 1983, along with his ex-wife, Diana, Princess of Wales, and a nine-month-old Prince William.
The head of state of 15 nations' reign turned two years old on September 8, and His Majesty's 24 months as monarch thus far have been "nothing short of chaotic and even a tad bit depressing," one royal insider observed.
Apart from a cancer diagnosis, Kate, Princess of Wales' former battle with the disease, and growing resistance to the Crown, the King has also had to deal with "shenanigans" from his youngest child, Prince Harry throughout the year.
Daily Mirror reported on Parker-Bowles' remarks.
