Princess Sheikha Mahra's Bold Move: Dubai Royal Writes 'I Divorce You' to Sheikh Mana in Viral Instagram Post
Princess Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a daughter of Dubai ruler, His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced her apparent intention to divorce in a "far too personal" Instagram post.
"Dear Husband, As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce,” Her Highness posted to her spouse, Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum.
Princess Sheikha Mahra, 30, married Sheikh Mana during the summer of 2023, but their union has reportedly been doomed by repeated counts of infidelity and suspicions.
The princess added: "I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you," apparently flipping the script by alluding to the Islamic tradition of triple talaq, which permits husbands to end their marriages by repeating "I divorce you" three times.
"Take care. Your ex-wife," Her Highness signed off.
As a part of the influential Al Maktoum family, Sheikha Mahra holds a significant position within the UAE's ruling elite. She has pursued higher education internationally and has diverse interests, including equestrian sports, fashion, and philanthropy. Known for her active presence on social media, Sheikha Mahra shares glimpses of her life, interests, and charitable activities, earning popularity among younger demographics.
The "fashionable" Dubai princess' efforts focus on women's empowerment, education, and cultural preservation. Additionally, she is recognized for her love of clothing and beauty and frequently attends prominent events and fashion shows. Sharing her father’s passion for horses, she actively participates in and promotes equestrian sports in the UAE.
For many, Sheikha Mahra embodies a blend of traditional values and modern sensibilities, contributing significantly to both social and cultural spheres within the UAE.
This bombshell follows additional troubles in other royal marriages within the last year.
The Spanish monarchy could be set for crisis mode as King Felipe VI is reportedly "crushed" over Queen Letizia's alleged affair. Her Majesty was spotted dressed down in a lightly-colored lavender suit with white sneakers at the annual call for applications for the Social Projects of Banco Santanderâ in Madrid, Spain, on Tuesday, June 11.
According to the book Letizia's Silences by Spanish journalist Jaime Peñafiel, which was released recently, it is alleged that during a visit to New York in 2011, the then-Princess of Asturias renewed her relationship with Jamie del Burgo, described as her "lover."
Peñafiel suggested that Felipe was well aware of Letizia's alleged infidelity, as her security detail was required to keep him informed of her movements in real time.
Reports of infidelity and possible divorce also followed Denmark's King Frederik X and Queen Mary, but "rapidly disappeared" when the pair became the nation's monarch and consort following Queen Margrethe II's abdication on January 14.
