Princess Kate's 'Cringe' Uncle Could Embarrass Future Queen on TV: 'The Last Thing She Needs'
Kate, Princess of Wales's uncle, Gary Goldsmith, could potentially join a popular U.K. reality show, and this reportedly has the future queen — who is currently recovering from a "serious" abdominal surgery — cringing with embarrassment.
"Gary is champing at the bit to get on Celebrity Big Brother," a source spilled. "He finalized the terms of his deal today and can’t wait to enter the house."
"I think it's cringe-making, very embarrassing, the trouble is he doesn't like Harry and Meghan at all, some of these comments will fall onto Catherine and she's had a lot against her, she's not well, she's in hospital," royal expert Angela Levin told an outlet recently.
She continued: "I think when you come out of an operation, you're quite vulnerable, and this could upset her enormously. In principle, people who don't like her could say she encouraged him to do it, but she would have done nothing of the kind. It's very embarrassing."
"It's very hard being a royal, and I don't know if this is a good idea. I don't think he's doing it for money; he's a multi-millionaire, maybe just to be heard, but that makes it worse. The trouble with these programs is they don't remember there are cameras running all the time, and he could say something inappropriate, and it can be quite dangerous," Levin added.
She concluded: "It's not appropriate behavio,r really."
This follows news from November 2023 that Kate, Princess of Wales, asked her uncle, Gary Goldsmith, to avoid attacking Prince Harry in his planned autobiography that will tell the story of the Middleton family. "There are disclosures they would never forgive him for if they were ever to be made public. William and Kate are trying to avoid that at all costs. They don’t want a book to fan the flames, which could set Harry off again," an insider spilled at that time.
With Kate in hospital, it's the last thing she would want," royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams dished. "I don't think the Middleton's will be particularly delighted. I suspect he will be a big yawn. I think he will try really hard to make comments about the Sussexes because I don't think most people know who he is, and most people are that interested. He is the family black sheep."
Fitzwilliams continued: "I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be a big yawn and made a few comments the royal family could undoubtedly do without about the Sussexes. He could embarrass the Middleton family, and one would worry he doesn't say too much because it wouldn't be helpful. The royal family do have other things to bother about at the moment, but this news does no service to them."
The Sun reported on Levin and Fitzwilliams' remarks.
