Princess Kate Opens Up About Her New Morning Routine with William & the Kids — and We Can All Relate
As she attended the Buckingham Palace garden party, she opened up about the family’s daily routine surrounding the newest addition to their household.
Kate Middleton, during a recent engagement, offered a rare glimpse into her otherwise private family life with Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. It turns out their mornings are surprisingly relatable. As she attended the Buckingham Palace garden party, she opened up about the family’s daily routine surrounding the newest addition to their household.
As per HELLO!, during an exchange with a guest at the event, Middleton admitted that their family’s new puppy, Otto, has been quite the troublemaker around the house. As she spoke candidly about what it’s like living with the furry being, sharing how he had “chewed quite a lot the other day.” Opening up about the newest routine in the Wales household, she said, “You have to keep them busy. The first thing we do in the morning is check, 'Has anyone taken Otto out?'” The remark rang familiar to fellow dog parents present at the event.
The garden party itself marked a major public appearance for the Princess as she hosted the event alongside William on behalf of King Charles. She donned a cream colored Self Portrait dress, paired with earrings that once belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth. She also wore a sentimental bracelet, and her ability to fuse royal elegance with personal touch didn’t go unnoticed throughout the afternoon.
As for Otto, the family formally introduced their newest family member recently. Earlier this month, Kensington Palace shared an adorable picture of the puppy in honor of his first birthday. The caption read, “Welcome to the family, Otto! 1 today.” He came from the litter born to the family’s famous cocker spaniel, Orla. She welcomed four puppies in May 2025, and their social media announced the same last summer. Middleton also talked about their newest addition back in February when she revealed during a royal engagement, “We’ve got a little puppy, he’s only eight months."
Otto has been appearing in important family moments as well, following the footsteps of his mother, Orla. The new puppy made it to the relaxed family portrait featuring the Wales family on the occasion of William and Kate’s 15th Wedding Anniversary. In the picture, the former smiles at his firstborn, George, while Middleton is holding hands with Louis as Charlotte leans towards her younger brother.
