Princess Kate Medical Confusion: British Army Just Removed Future Queen From Scheduled Engagement in June Despite Palace Claims
Trooping the Colour is set for Saturday, June 8, but the British Army just found itself in a major faux pas by insinuating Kate, Princess of Wales, would be in attendance. The division's website had the future queen listed as a major figure to appear, but Kensington Palace reportedly made the Army remove mention of Her Royal Highness' proposed appearance. One royal insider claimed that this has only added to "the confusion" over the princess' health.
Even though the annual military pageant is scheduled, and has long been a highlight of the yearly royal calendar, it is also unknown if King Charles III will participate in the event, which is his "birthday parade." His Majesty is currently being treated for an unknown form of cancer and has "temporarily" delegated his public role to senior members of the royal family.
Kate, Princess of Wales, is Colonel of the Irish Guards, having been awarded the military rank in 2022 by King Charles III. The king is set to celebrate his second Trooping the Colour ceremony, but despite her rank in his Armed Forces, Kate is "not expected" to wear a military uniform once again, according to a source.
The princess made this decision along with Queen Camilla, at last year's event, although Anne, Princess Royal, regularly wears her uniform each year during the grand parade. The future queen's contingent is set to participate in this year's ceremony, which many hope will include their Colonel, who is currently recovering from a "serious" abdominal surgery.
Kate inherited her role from her husband, Prince William, and has frequently paid homage to the guards by wearing green outfits and a shamrock brooch.
Princess Anne remains the only female member of the royal family to participate in the spectacle in uniform and on horseback.
In recent days, Buckingham Palace courtiers have lashed out at what they called "madness" on social media concerning Catherine, Princess of Wales' health.
Sources from Kensington Palace, which is Kate and Prince William's official office, stated: "We were really clear from the start we weren't going to provide a running commentary on the Princess of Wales's health and only provide significant updates."
"Obviously, we've seen the madness of social media, and that is not going to change our strategy," they added. "There has been much on social media, but the Princess has a right to privacy and asks the public to respect that. We were very clear from the outset that the Princess of Wales was out until after Easter, and Kensington Palace would only be providing updates when something was significant."
Business Insider reported on Kate's website error.
