It’s been quite a week for Princess Eugenie, who gave birth to a baby boy on February 9. Shortly after, the 30-year-old shared a sweet black-and-white photo of her newborn — but her family was missing from the sweet snap, which may have been on purpose.

“Maybe it’s just easier that they do it this way. She doesn’t want to embarrass her father,” Ingrid Seward, Majesty magazine editor-in-chief told the Daily Telegraph, referring to Prince Andrew’s scandal after her was linked to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein

However, the royal expert noted that grandparents aren’t always included in new pictures. “But, traditionally, there are rarely photographs of royal newborns with the grandparents,” she said. “That comes when the official christening photographs are taken. Family never really get involved at this stage. Although there was a photograph of Archie with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, the Queen and Prince Philip, that was quite a rare thing.”

Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, welcomed a little boy into their lives earlier this week. Afterward, several members of the royal family — including her parents Andrew and Sarah Ferguson — sent well-wishes to the couple.

"Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, February 9 2021, at 8.55am at The Portland Hospital. Jack Brooksbank was present,” the Palace wrote in a statement. “The baby weighs 8lbs 1oz.”

The statement continued, "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr. and Mrs. George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news. This is Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's first child, The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York's first grandchild, and the ninth great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

Meanwhile, Andrew stepped down from his royal duties last year after he was linked to Epstein. “It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organizations and charities that I am proud to support,” he said in an interview.

"Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission," he said, adding that he regrets “my ill-judged associated with Jeffrey Epstein.”

Then, in December 2020, a new report surfaced that he was allegedly with Virginia Roberts — who claimed she was forced to have sex with Andrew when she was just 17 years old — and not at Princess Beatrice’s Pizza Express birthday party in 2001. (Princess Beatrice didn’t recall her father being at the outing.)

Andrew has not made his own statement about Eugenie's newborn.
