'Anne the Reliable': Princess Royal 'Saved' the Monarchy Thanks to Her Enviable Work Ethic and Hardworking Attitude
Princess Anne continues to win praise as the British royal family's "standout" senior member.
"Princess Anne has saved the royal family on many occasions, she is the family's workhorse you want something done, you ask Princess Anne, and she will do it," former royal butler to Diana, Princess of Wales, Paul Burrell, said on behalf of Spin Genie.
"I have nothing but respect and admiration for her, she works tirelessly for the royal family brand and never complains, she just gets on with it," he added. "Princess Anne will be 'Anne the reliable.' She is a workhorse, she is stoic, she is reliable, she is everything the royal family needs; and, she is her father's daughter."
In mentioning Anne's frequent comparison to her equally hardworking, late father, Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Burrell continued: "His work ethic was the same. He never veered away from anything and always hit things straight on. Princess Anne may rely on the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, who are very responsible too, but everybody knows Princess Anne, she has always been there."
The ex-royal aide concluded: "She can hold the fort in any crisis, so her workload is increasing for the time being, which she doesn’t mind. She just gets on with it. Princess Anne is always there, she is the best Queen we never had, she has an incredible work ethic and is a great credit to the royal family."
This insight comes after the Princess Royal spent some three weeks recuperating from a "mysterious" horse-related accident at her Gatcombe Park home on June 23. After a return to work in mid-July, HRH is said to wish to prefer to "avoid this fuss" and just "get on with it."
"I don't think Princess Anne is particularly the self-pitying kind," royal expert Gareth Russell shared. "I don't think we'll see a big sit-down interview where she discusses the horseriding accident at all. I don't think it's really in her nature. That being said, she's often quite candid in interviews, so if she's asked about it, she might talk about it."
"But I'd be very surprised if she felt that it was in the public's interest or beholden of her to sit down and talk about the incident where she was injured," he added. "I don't think that's in her personality or track record."
As for Her Royal Highness' dynamic with other royals, one insider said she has always got on well with them, except for one rebel icon.
"For the most part, the Princess Royal managed to get along with everyone in her family," a former palace aide shared in 2016. "She did have a rough go with it with Diana, but then again, many people did because [Diana] was so temperamental and set in her ways, just like Anne sometimes."
They concluded: "The Princess Royal disliked how Diana handled and used the media for manipulative purposes."
Princess Anne turns 74 on Thursday, August 15.
