Business as Usual: Princess Anne to Avoid 'Big Sit-Down Interview' After Return to Royal Duties Following Mysterious Accident
Princess Anne spent some three weeks recuperating from a "mysterious" horse-related accident at her Gatcombe Park home on June 23. After a return to work in mid-July, HRH is said to wish to prefer to "avoid this fuss" and just "get on with it."
"I don't think Princess Anne is particularly the self-pitying kind," royal expert Gareth Russell shared. "I don't think we'll see a big sit-down interview where she discusses the horseriding accident at all. I don't think it's really in her nature. That being said, she's often quite candid in interviews, so if she's asked about it, she might talk about it."
"But I'd be very surprised if she felt that it was in the public's interest or beholden of her to sit down and talk about the incident where she was injured," he added. "I don't think that's in her personality or track record."
As a veteran equestrian, the Princess Royal is currently in Paris where she will attend events for the entirety of the 2024 Summer Olympics in the French capital. She competed in the 1976 Summer Games in Montreal, Canada, and is now the official president of the British Olympic Association.
The hardworking royal has made headlines ever since the incident that caused her to lose some of her memory surrounding her head injury in late June.
"We still don't know the details of what actually happened when she met this horse and what happened," royal reporter Michael Cole dished "Apparently she has no memory of it. So maybe it will remain a mystery between her and the horse."
"Princess Anne is an incredible lady — passionate, clever and quick-witted, genuinely interested in the people she meets and the events she attends, and is incredibly hard-working," equestrian Rhea Freeman shared shortly after the incident. "I imagine she’ll be eager to get back to work as soon as possible as she brings awareness, understanding and so much more to places she visits and organizations and events she supports."
The princess is said to have spent "over 40 years" with very few off days when it comes to royal duties, which Freeman points to. "After spending a short amount of time in Princess Anne’s presence, I got the distinct impression that she knows her own mind, and I can’t imagine she’ll be too happy about having to take things easy."
She continued: "She’s worked incredibly hard for many years, attending over 450 events last year. Her normal schedule is relentless and she often attends multiple events a day, so having enforced time off will be very strange, I’m sure."
GBN reported on Russell's remarks.
