Expert Reveals Prince William’s Plans for Harry and Meghan as Duchess Makes Another Misstep

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have stepped down from their roles as senior royals, but they’ve continued to use their royal titles. Prince William is reportedly less than pleased with the Sussexes' ongoing use of their royal names to further their ventures. Royal expert Kinsey Schofield claims that she has it on ‘good authority’ that William plans to strip Harry and Markle of their titles once he becomes King.

In a statement on Sky News Australia, Schofield affirms that the Prince of Wales has always intended to execute his plan. As reported by the Daily Express, she said, "William wants to strip them [Harry and Meghan] of their titles and the Sussexes would like reassurance that he won’t do that, knowing how much it would hurt their commercial opportunities.” Schofield's claims followed Markle having recently shared a message on Instagram in which she reaffirmed herself and Harry as ‘Your Royal Highness.’

After the Duke and Duchess exited the royal family, they agreed not to use their ‘His/Her Royal Highness’ (HRH) titles. Despite this, Markle reposted a message from the vice president of Ukraine addressing her as ‘Your Royal Highness.’ A source who’s friends with William told the Daily Beast, “Charles has a softly-softly attitude to Harry and Meghan, and so that’s the policy for now, but the gloves will be off when he [William] inherits the throne. If they started using the HRH titles on a regular basis, he would take them [Sussex titles] away for good.” Another royal insider told the outlet, “He thinks he has betrayed the family from top to bottom, which is the ultimate Windsor crime. It wouldn’t take much to provoke him to flex his muscles when he is King.”

Tom Quinn has also echoed Schofield’s claims on William’s plan. He told The Mirror that the Prince and King Charles have had lengthy discussions about stripping the Sussexes of their royal titles, but they are terrified this would backfire and make the situation worse. He added, “William and his father know that even without their royal titles, Meghan and Harry would carry on traveling the world as if they were royals and most people in the world will still welcome them.” While Harry has relinquished his military titles upon his exit, he continues to use the Sussex name. Markle, on the other hand, has used the title for all her solo business ventures.

Despite the speculation about William’s plans to strip the Sussexes of their titles, it is not as easy to do so. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams spoke to the Daily Express and said, “The only way the title could be removed would be by an Act of Parliament, which is highly improbable. In that unlikely case, Harry would still be a prince as he was born one.” He noted that the undue intervention from the UK Parliament seems highly unlikely.
