Prince William Was 'Reeling' After Meghan Markle Made Claims About Kate Middleton During Sit-Down With Oprah Winfrey, Expert Claims
When Meghan Markle shared her side of the story about Kate Middleton allegedly making her cry prior to her wedding to Prince Harry, Prince William was less than thrilled.
Following the sit-down, which aired in March 2021, "William was 'reeling' with his 'head all over the place,' furious that his brother and sister-in-law had taken aim at his wife and his family," royal editor Roya Nikkhah claimed.
Additionally, another source said that Kate, 40, was the one who had to be strong for her family.
"In the days after the interview her priority was William, not how she felt about what Harry and Meghan had done," they said. "She has focused on personal support for William in what has been a really sad time in his life. She never predicted the degree of falling out between them."
While speaking with Oprah Winfrey, the former actress was asked if she made Kate cry, which is what the tabloids reported.
"The reverse happened, and I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone because it was a really hard week of the wedding and she was upset about something but she owned it — she brought me flowers, she apologized, a note apologizing – she did what I would do if I knew I hurt someone," Meghan replied. "What was shocking – six, seven months after our wedding that the reverse of that would be out in the world. I would have never wanted that to come out about her, ever, even though it had happened. I protected that from ever coming out in the world."
"A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining — the flower girl dresses, and it made me cry and it really hurt my feelings," she continued. "I thought in the context of everything leading up to the wedding, that it didn’t make sense to not just be doing whatever anyone else was doing, knowing what I was going through with my dad and what not."
Since the two don't live near each other — Meghan is in L.A. while Kate is in the U.K. — they haven't had a chance to talk things out. Despite the tension, it seems like the ladies have called a truce.
"Tensions have eased between Meghan and Kate," a source insisted to Us Weekly. "Kate even sent Meghan a gift for the baby. They’re in a better place and have exchanged texts since the birth of Lilibet."
