Prince William to Explore 'Remote Work' as Head of State When He Accedes to Throne
Prince William will one day become Britain's head of state, and the future monarch is considering "a new approach to work" in line with modern advancements in the workforce.
"I'm sure that will mean doing more stuff online," a friend of William and Princess Kate shared when highlighting the future queen's current illness. "He can 'WFH' and do hybrid working a bit. Frankly, it has more impact because it reaches many more people."
"In many ways, the next few weeks and months will be a template for his future reign because he will have similar personnel available after he succeeds to the throne, even if that doesn’t happen for many years," they added.
The insider continued: "I think you’ll see him try and balance the demands of the state with the demands of being a good family man, taking care of his sick wife, and making sure his kids are doing OK.
The family friend then spoke about how the trajectory of the future king and queen's lives was supposed to unfold. "William and Kate had hoped to have several decades as Prince and Princess of Wales, and, god willing, they will still get them. But what is interesting about the next few months is that William is being forced into a dry run at being king much sooner than he might have imagined such a thing would come to pass. Of course, he doesn’t welcome it."
"King William V and Queen Catherine, as representatives of the millennial generation, will become the first tried and true modern monarch and consort in the millennium-plus history of the monarchy," a former Kensington Palace aide spilled." Charles III is indeed a modernizer, but he was raised and reared by his mother's court, which was still rooted in Victorian-era ideas about protocol and deference."
They added: "As we are seeing, small changes are unfolding, but his reign is still somewhat holding on to all of that, which is why, dare I say, he will always be remembered as the elderly sovereign who followed one of the greatest of all time. It is so unfortunate he was stricken with cancer only a year and a half after taking the Crown. But here is to hoping His Majesty can survive this insidious disease."
The source then predicted that "The reign of William V will be unlike anything anyone has ever seen with our monarchy. He and Kate will, of course, retain some of the ancient pageantry, but they want to transform the institution into a people's monarchy. Will it work? It is hard to say because so much of what we conceive of the royal family is rooted in pomp, splendor, extravagant processions, and bowing and curtsying."
The insider concluded by adding: "But that is what a monarchy is; otherwise, you are just another politician or wealthy influencer talking about divisive issues."
