Squirming in His Seat: Prince Harry 'Wary and Anxious' as Meghan Markle Opened Up About 'Online Bullying' and Her Traumatic Palace Lifestyle in Latest Interview
Prince Harry's body language in his and Meghan Markle's Sunday, August 4, interview on CBS Sunday Morning has been analyzed thanks to a moment where the Spare author "looks unreceptive of his wife."
Behavioral analyst Judi James told The Sun: "The clip from their infamous Oprah interview is shown, then back in the current interview we see Meghan’s change in body language dynamic."
"The polite, gracious, closed-lip smile is still in place, but her eye expression suddenly looks bleak," she added. "Her hand goes onto Harry’s knee, as though asking for support or gaining strength from this tactile reminder of his presence."
James' insights follow numerous comments on X pointing out how the rebel prince looks "pensive," "constipated," "dour" and "depressed" during the interview.
"Harry’s response looks wary, and he keeps relatively still here," the body language expert continued. "His hand doesn’t clasp hers in a reciprocal gesture, instead, he performs some anxiety-prompted rubbing of the fingers and thumb in his own handclasp. His head tilts in another expression of wariness, and when Meghan speaks he watches her face closely."
On the Duchess of Sussex, the analyst observed: "Meghan performs a wry smile with clamped lips to suggest bravery, and she lets out a small, mirthless laugh. Her eyelids flutter in what looks like a small burst of emotion, and she performs three hair preen rituals that are either a partial cut-off or a desire to ensure her composure remains intact."
Apart from this headline-making interview, and according to reports, the fifth in line to the British throne is also still bogged down in a bitter feud with nearly all of his family, it is suggested the only senior royal he (at one time recently) communicated with was King Charles III. The monarch even decided to meet with his youngest son back in February, one day after his cancer diagnosis was made public.
Some reports suggest the pair only met for 12 minutes, and the King declined to see his rebel son again when the Duke visited Britain on May 8 for an Invictus Games event. The California transplant is said to be "adamant" in his determination to get in touch with his father, as he reportedly feels that both he and his family could be in danger.
"Harry is frightened and feels the only person who can do anything about it is his father," a Sussex source spilled to an outlet.
This led another insider to dish about how the King and his "spare" are "at loggerheads over Harry's security requests and are no longer communicating," before revealing: "Harry has genuine security concerns about the safety of his family in light of Princess Diana’s death and feels that his father can help him in his ongoing battle with RAVEC (the entity that oversees security)."
