As King Charles III battles an unknown form of cancer, palace insiders have revealed that His Majesty is thinking about the Succession to the British Throne — particularly Prince Harry's place in it.

"Because of [Harry’s] previous documentaries, that might be on the mind of not necessarily the King but the royal household — the office that runs it," former royal butler to the King, Grant Harrold dished.

King Charles III briefly met with Prince Harry on February 6, 2024.

"Harry is still [a] counselor of state and privy to top-secret information because technically he is able to step in for the king, so it doesn’t make sense why he wouldn’t be kept in the loop. If he wasn’t still counselor of state then that would be a very different matter," he added. "The King has or definitely had a close relationship with Harry — if this is true, I can’t understand why the King wouldn’t want to share his plans."

He continued: "Maybe there’s this feeling not to share following all the documentaries and interviews Harry has done. However, his recent meeting with the King, Harry hasn’t shared details of that."

The severity of King Charles III's cancer diagnosis remains a mystery.

"Charles is also aware that, as future king, William is at the heart of the succession planning that is taking place right now — officials had assumed Charles would remain healthy at least into his mid-eighties before succession planning would need to begin, but it has now begun and indicates perhaps that Charles' cancer is more dangerous than we have been led to believe," royal author Tom Quinn told a publication.

He continued: "Succession planning is highly secret, and no one trusts Harry to be part of it for the simple reason that if he feels in any way slighted or not given what he feels he deserves, he will run straight to the media. Harry caused a stir when he released Spare, as he hit out at a number of his family members."

Quinn's insights are in direct contrast to recent reports that suggest the fiery-haired prince wishes to return to royal duties in Britain.

The Duke of Sussex spoke candidly about King Charles' cancer diagnosis on February 16, 2024.

Speaking on Good Morning America on Friday, February 16, the fiery-haired prince shared: "I have got many trips planned that will take me through the U.K. or back to the U.K., so I will my family as much as I can."

When asked by one of the hosts to share his outlook on His Majesty's health, the Duke of Sussex replied: "That stays between me and him."

He then majorly broke Buckingham Palace protocol, which prohibits revealing discussions about royal health, by stating: "Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I'm grateful for that. Throughout all these families I see it on a day-to-day basis, again, the strength of the family unit coming together. I think any illness, any sickness, brings families together."
