Montecito Marital Strife: Prince Harry Is 'Putting on the Pressure' to Get Meghan Markle to Move Back to 'Miserable' U.K.
Prince Harry is reportedly "fed up" with both the "Californian lifestyle" and being away from Britain, according to a Sussex insider. The Duke of Sussex is said to be turning up the "pressure" to convince a U.K.-weary Meghan Markle to uproot their lives and "raise their children" in the United Kingdom. With news that the fifth in line to the throne is set to host a St Paul's Cathedral-set, 10th-anniversary celebration for his Invictus Games in May, the ex-actress may be "bending to the pressure."
In his late 2023 book, Endgame, author Omid Scobie shared that the Duchess of Sussex likely "never wants to set foot in England" again. This is primarily and allegedly due to the negative press coverage she has received in Britain, in addition to the apparent hardships she experienced as a royal Duchess.
"Harry is very keen for his entire family to join him," a source spilled. "It's important for him that they show a united front and focus on building bridges with the rest of the royal family."
The source continued: "The move to bring the Invictus Games back to Britain is seen as an opportunity for Harry, and he is very keen to take it. He is adamant that he wants Meghan and the children to join him, but I think she may be apprehensive, and I think she finds being in the U.K. very uncomfortable."
Royal author Tom Quinn took a more nuanced approach to the reports and shared: "The Invictus Games — it's one of the few areas of Harry's life where he feels on firm ground. There's no doubt that helping disabled soldiers is a good thing, and it's something that Harry has tried to do without it becoming all about him, so it's good for brand Sussex but only if Meghan is also there. So he is definitely putting pressure on her to join him."
He added: "This is causing huge tension in the couple's relationship. [Meghan] now realizes with the games coming up and her father-in-law seriously ill that you should never say never."
"Meghan knows that she hasn’t been wanted in the past, so why would it be any different this time around?" the insider asked.
The former Suits star has not been in the nation, which arguably made her world-famous, since the state funeral of Elizabeth II in September 2022. It is rumored that she and Harry's daughter, Lilibet Diana, who is a princess of royal blood and seventh-in-line to Great Britain's throne, only met her grandfather, the King, once, during the summer of 2022.
Daily Express reported on Quinn's comments.
