Royal Awareness: How Prince Harry Read Between the Lines of Prince William's 'This Girl' Comment About Meghan Markle
According to Prince Harry, Prince William had some choice, "veiled" words for Meghan Markle early in the relationship between the senior royal and TV actress.
In Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand's 2020 Sussex biography Finding Freedom, a source is quoted saying the heir to the throne told his younger brother, "Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl."
Harry and Meghan started dating during the summer of 2016, and it is believed the encounter with William and the future Duke of Sussex occurred some months later. The book also recounts a source claiming, "Harry could see through William's words. He was being a snob."
Later in the tome, another insider countered the other source by sharing, "William didn't know a whole lot about Meghan; he wanted to make sure Harry wasn't blindsided by lust."
The Duchess of Sussex would later go on to add context to how the "frost" started to develop early between her and Harry's dynamic with the future Prince and Princess of Wales.
"When Will and Kate came over and I met her for the first time they came over for dinner," Meghan recalled in Netflix's 2022 documentary Harry & Meghan. "I remember I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot. I've always been a hugger, I didn't realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits. I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside."
The Suits star continued, "There is a forward-facing way of being, and then you close the door and go 'You can relax now' but that formality carries over on both sides. And that was surprising to me."
New reports reflect that the Prince of Wales is "so beyond angry and disgusted by the Sussexes" that he is now choosing to pretend they do not even exist.
"There’s talk that William is the enforcer, the tough guy of the royal family," journalist and broadcaster Dee Dee Dunleavy dished. "King Charles is a pushover, I think he’d take Harry back in a heartbeat."
"William’s taken on the role that Prince Phillip had, he was the tough guy," she added. "I can see William’s point of view as well, he's more protective of the upset that Harry caused while the Queen was in her dying weeks. That’s probably why William has such a strong feeling toward Harry, but I just can’t see [Prince Harry rejoining the family] happening."
The expert then bitingly observed how the monarchy should "sever all ties" with the "grifting" Montecito twosome "because that then devalues their currency."
