Prince Harry's Mood Swings Exposed: Duke 'Your Best Friend One Minute and Worst Enemy the Next'
Prince Harry reportedly experiences "mood swings" that he could have inherited from his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, who was also known for lashing out and ghosting others.
However, His Royal Highness seems to share this inconvenient trait with his brother, Prince William, according to author Robert Jobson, author of Diana: Closely Guarded Secret.
"They both have quite extreme mood swings, just as Diana did," the scribe wrote. "She could be your best friend one minute and the next your worst enemy."
As for the future king, His Royal Highness is "a bit of a shouter," according to a royal aide. However, "it's fair to say the Duke and the Duchess give as good as they get if their disagreement results in raised voices," they added. "But they know each other so well, it usually blows over quickly — and she is, on the whole, a major calming influence on him."
Harry's temper was previously revealed in the royal author's 2023 book Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed. Jobson wrote, "On the surface, everything seemed fine," he observed when discussing the infamous "Tiaragate" scandal during the lead-up to Harry and Meghan's 2018 wedding.
"But [Prince]William and [King] Charles had noticed a difference in Harry, who seemed to be permanently on edge. The stress seemed to be getting to the couple... Staff and family both said the normally happy and funny prince became 'petulant and short-tempered' with members of staff."
It was rumored that the Duchess-to-be threw the "tantrum" over the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, which typically is only worn by Queens.
Furthermore, the Prince of Wales' "hot temper" has also been reported on in recent years in relation to his marriage to Kate, Princess of Wales.
"It's well known that William can be hot-tempered and certainly quite stubborn. Of course, they have rows, which apparently can be quite fiery, but they are quickly over and peace is restored," said royal expert Jennie Bond in May 2023.
"I think it’s a sign of a healthy and relatable marriage. And, actually, there is an incredibly equal partnership," Bond observed when putting the future king and queen's partnership in perspective. It has been pointed out that Kate has the "stronger" personality of the two, but there is only so much she can do to alleviate her spouse's jolts of anger.
As The Royal Observer previously reported, Kate has to treat her husband "like a fourth child" to calm his tantrums. Royal author Tom Quinn told an outlet, "They do have rows. It's not a perfect marriage. They have terrific rows. But, where some couples have a row and throw heavy vases at each other, William and Kate throw cushions at each other. It's always kept under control."
Daily Mirror reported on the expert and insider revelations.
