Ghost of Criticisms Past: Prince Harry's Memoir Attacks About Kate Middleton and Queen Camilla Leave Royal Forgiveness Out of Reach
Prince Harry, 40, spent 2024 promoting his charitable causes, but even those good deeds couldn't take away from the "sting" still felt from HRH's "attacks" on Queen Camilla, 77 and Catherine, Princess of Wales, 42. In his memoir Spare, the California Duke "spoke ill" about the future queen's intelligence while calling the Queen "dangerous," according to sources.
This led royal lensman Arthur Edwards to share, "Harry can do nothing right at the moment and whatever he says is interpreted as some way or another."
"Ever since he left this country, the split has become huge between the royal family here and him, and us and him, and the media and him," he said. "It is mainly because he rubbished the royal family. You can't rubbish the King's wife, Camilla, and expect to be easily forgiven, you can't rubbish William's wife and be easily forgiven."
In the bestselling tome, Harry revealed that he begged his father not to marry Camilla. He accused her of leaking stories to the press in an effort to revamp her image as the mistress that broke up Charles and Diana’s marriage.
"[Her need to rehabilitate her image] made her dangerous because of the connections that she that she was forging within the British press," the fiery-haired prince wrote. "And there was open willingness on both sides to trade of information. And with a family built on hierarchy, and with her on the way to being Queen Consort, there was gonna be people or bodies left in the street because of that."
As The Royal Observer previously reported, the Montecito royal rebel frequently used the future queen as a comparison tool against Meghan Markle's negative press attention in Britain.
The book also included allegations that Kate, along with Prince William, goaded the then-20-year-old prince to wear a N--- uniform to a party in early 2005. He also claimed that the then-Duchess of Cambridge was the architect behind the 2018 Princess Charlotte bridesmaid dress drama that made Meghan cry.
The fifth in line to the throne also wrote about how the Duchess of Sussex said that Kate had a "baby brain" during the disagreement since she gave birth to Prince Louis roughly a month before Harry and Meghan eloped. The future queen apparently took offense to the remark as a slight against her intelligence.
"Some of what Harry and Meghan have said, particularly about Kate, was so personal, and it's going to take years to heal the hurt because of the damage that's been done," royal analyst Duncan Larcombe told an outlet.
Kate and Harry's feud is all part of the wider rift between what was once dubbed "the Fab Four" of millennial royals once Meghan joined the royal scene in late 2017.
When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex suddenly abandoned their royal duties and left Britain for good, William and Kate are said to have taken their decision personally.
