No Royal Overdraft: Prince Harry Is 'Doing Well Financially' and 'Spends a Lot' Thanks to New Inheritance Amid Sussex 'Broke' Rumors
Amid rumors of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle "going broke," aristocrat Lady Victoria Hervey pushed back and told GBN's Nana Akua the rebel Duke is "doing well financially."
"He got an extra chunk of money for his birthday," she added. "So we don't know how he's deciding to spend that. I'm sure that will come in very handy for what they [him and Meghan Markle] want to do next."
The Duke of Sussex turned the big 4-0 on Sunday, September 15, and in addition to a quiet day at home with Meghan and the kids, the fifth in line to the British throne reportedly received some $8.5 million dollars from Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother's estate.
"I've no doubt that Harry will accept it, it’s money that’s owed to him, money that’s coming to him," former royal butler to King Charles III, Grant Harrold, told an outlet.
This led Akua to share with Lady Hervey, "He's going to need a lot more than 8 million pounds in Montecito. I imagine just running that house with all the staff and everything is a lot of money every year."
"But look, he's making it he's got so many different deals that he's on," the socialite responded. "He's obviously doing pretty well."
Since Harry and Meghan left the Crown in early 2020, the duo have amassed a "whopping" $62.5 million dollars alone based solely on their projects. Meghan was rumored to have been worth roughly $5 million when she met her future Duke in 2016, whereas Harry had a reported $25 million dollars of inherited wealth in the bank. The ex-actress garnered her "handful of millions" primarily from her acting role on the legal drama series Suits.
The duo signed megawatt deals in the fall of that year, "back when they were a hot commodity," as one royal insider described it. Spotify inked the "tell-all royals" for the podcast "Archetypes," which flopped, leading to the cancelation of their contract in June 2023.
A reported $100 million dollar deal with Netflix that autumn is "still inching along" even though it has scored only one hit, the 2022 "tell-all fest" Harry & Meghan. Two other non-fiction programs have dropped four years later — both tanked. The couple's contract is set to end next fall. An upcoming cooking and lifestyle program featuring Meghan, and the soon-to-be-released documentary POLO, is "hoped" to break the viewer stalemate.
Nevertheless, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are "most definitely" living their best lives. The Duke was recently spotted at the George Zajfen Tennis Tournament, one day before he turned 40.
This led body language expert Darren Stanton, speaking on behalf of Betfair Slots, to share, "Harry looks in his element, he looks really relaxed. He was even doing a little dance at one point."
