Prince Harry 'Breaking' Princess Diana's 'Heart': Late Royal Would Be Disappointed in Youngest Son's 'Desertion' of Duties
Paul Burrell is no fan of Prince Harry's, but the ex-butler to the late Diana, Princess of Wales (1961-1997), gave an impassioned plea to the royal rebel letting him know he is probably "breaking her heart."
"I saw first-hand Diana raise William and Harry, and it was always Harry's duty and his job to be a wingman for his brother," Burrell told an outlet.
"He always knew that William would be king and Harry would be second in charge, but something happened, and that was Meghan," he added. "She changed his world and turned it upside down."
Even though she has been labeled as "controversial" and as a "disruptor," many have pointed out how "Diana was dedicated to the Crown and to duty — not celebrity," according to a former palace courtier.
Burrell continued: "Diana would not be happy with the way he has deserted his post. He has not only deserted his post, he has deserted his family and his country. Diana always knew that the price to pay for an extremely privileged life, which they have, is public service, and Harry hasn’t paid that price. If she was still alive, none of this would be happening because she would still have her hands on the reins and she would still be steering her children."
Both Harry and Meghan have frequently "shown off their idolization" of the iconic royal, who was killed in a car crash in Paris in the late summer of 1997. Although the Duchess of Sussex is reportedly "infatuated" with Diana's legacy, some analysts, including Burrell, feel that the one-time future queen would have "seen straight through" her daughter-in-law.
"Diana and Meghan are nothing alike and never will be," another royal insider spilled. "A more apt comparison for Meghan would be Wallis Simpson."
Burrell further observed how "She would be proud of William but she would have a broken heart over Harry because she would be torn over the love for her son and the desertion of his duty."
The butler-turned-bestselling author's insights follow his remark from last month about William and Harry's avoidance of one another at the Diana Awards.
"She would have been devastated," Burrell shared when asked by GBN's Mark Dolan how she would likely react to her sons today. "Are you surprised this is happening? I am not. It is just another awkward moment for William, who doesn’t want to share any platform, anywhere in the world, with his brother."
"He has drawn a line in the sand and decided no more; that is the end of it," he added. "But even, an award, cannot bring these two boys back together. And if that can’t, their mother's legacy can't, then nothing can."
Daily Express reported on Burrell's comments.
