Pippa Middleton Enters Royal/Sussex Feud: Princess Kate's Sister Tipped for Role in 'Reconciliation' Talks Between Two Sides
Pippa Middleton has reportedly maintained her cordial relationship with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, which one insider claimed is the key to healing the ex-"Fab Four's" rift.
"Now that Meghan is looking for ways to make peace with Kate, she’s hit on this idea that Pippa could be a good pathway," the source spilled.
Pippa is reported to have "taken to Meghan in ways Kate never quite could," once the American actress started seriously dating Harry in 2016. The Suits star even received an invite to Pippa's wedding to James Matthews in 2017 months before her royal engagement to Harry was announced in November of that year. The future queen's sibling and Prince William's younger brother had already been "good friends" for years before Meghan's arrival on the scene.
"Things cooled off between Meghan and Pippa when everything went awry with the Sussexes and William and Kate, but – as far as their personal relationship goes – there was never any issue," they added. "Pippa’s always been very reasonable and level-headed towards Meghan, so it’s not totally out of left field."
The insider then shared how "Pippa is someone who she and Harry both get along well with, and they know she’s got a lot of sway with Kate, so the plan now is to approach her and explain how sincere they are in their hopes of patching up things."
But in recent months, Pippa has been seen "glued" to her elder sister's side as the Princess of Wales battles cancer. She has also been described as Her Royal Highness' "unofficial lady-in-waiting."
Within the British Royal Household, ladies-in-waiting are typically appointed by the Queen or other senior female royals and hold their positions for many years, sometimes even decades. Their positions are considered prestigious and are usually filled by women from prominent families with close ties to the royal family. In centuries past and even during the late Queen Elizabeth II's reign, these ladies were always chosen from the aristocracy, however, Queen Camilla changed this rule.
Historically, senior female royals such as the Princess of Wales have had several ladies-in-waiting to assist them with their numerous duties and engagements. For example, Princess Diana, when she was the Princess of Wales, had a small team of ladies-in-waiting.
Despite her devotion to her family, the middle Middleton child allegedly sees no reason why she would need to automatically dislike Team Sussex.
The source concluded by sharing how the dynamic between Pippa, Harry and Meghan, is something the Duke of Sussex would like to rekindle.
"He would like to work on a friendship with Pippa and her husband James, perhaps meet up with them on neutral ground in Europe or the States, then see if they can get some synergy going. Scoring any type of friendship with Pippa would be a huge win, even if it does seem like a long shot given how unpopular they are in royal circles right now," the insider concluded.
Daily Express reported on the insider revelations.
