The 'Treacherous Weasel': Piers Morgan Slams Prince Harry for Not Visiting King Charles During U.K. Trip
Piers Morgan is not a fan of Harry, Duke of Sussex, but the outspoken broadcaster took his criticism of the 39-year-old royal up a notch by labeling him a "treacherous weasel" for not visiting a sick King Charles III.
"King Charles has checked his diary and can’t find time to see his treacherous weasel of a youngest son," Morgan wrote on X.
The fiery-haired prince is currently in Britain, where he attended a service of commemoration for his Invictus Games at St Paul's Cathedral. But it was his fans both inside and outside that proved to be Harry's only source of comfort in his homeland. It was reported that not a single member of his family accepted an invitation to the event, and his father allegedly backed out of meeting his youngest son at the last minute.
"Why wasn't the whole 'the King is busy' thing explained weeks before this? We have known of Harry's upcoming trip at least that long" a former palace aide dished. The reigning monarch's diary is mapped out, sometimes months in advance. That is how the late Queen did things for decades, and I am told His current Majesty has changed nothing in that regard."
Regardless of the real reason the visit didn't happen, fans of the prince on X came for Morgan and his "vile comments.”
"You are a nasty man, Piers," one wrote. "Give it a rest for once and for all, and leave Harry alone." Another shot back with: "We get it, Piers. You don't like Prince Harry. It's giving obsession at this stage — it seems he's all you can talk about. A third user shared: "I doubt Harry gives a flying f--- what you think of him, to be honest, Piers."
Those on the inside of the royal drama between king and prince also registered surprise when the meeting did not occur.
"Harry has kept in regular contact with his father on several occasions and made no secret of his desire to see him when he can," a royal source spilled. "He has been especially concerned about him and hopes the King will be well."
This insight follows a previous one from Morgan who recently told Megyn Kelly on her radio program: "I hope that King Charles — who is massively distracted by his illness — will at some stage have that conversation and say, 'You can't keep the titles. I'm sorry.'"
As the British sovereign, King Charles III can remove Harry and Meghan's HRH styles by simply issuing a Letters Patent making it so. He could also remove Harry's "prince" style, which also extends to Meghan as "Princess Henry" by virtue of marriage. It would take the U.K. parliament passing acts of legislation to remove the "Duke/Duchess of Sussex" titles and/or to strike Harry and his two children from the line of succession to the throne.
Daily Mirror reported on Morgan's comments.
