Mike Tindall Gets Candid About His Marriage To Wife Zara: It 'Can't Always Be Roses & Rainbows'
Mike Tindall will be the first to admit that marriage isn't always easy. The 43-year-old got candid about his relationship with wife Zara Tindall while appearing on a special male-focused edition of Loose Women on Friday, November 19.
"A marriage or long-term relationship can't always be roses and rainbows," the athlete — who shares Mia, 7, Lena, 3, and Lucas, 7 months, with the Queen's granddaughter — confessed. "When you have children, that is a massive shock, change to your system that you've never experienced and there is going to be those rocky roads. There are things that are thrown at you that have to test both of you and that will test that relationship. The thing is no one is right, no one is wrong. You have to work through it together."
“The thing is no one’s right, no one’s wrong, you have to work through it together,” he noted. “She’ll stay angry whereas I can have a full barney and, because of rugby, I can have a full barney at someone when they’ve done it wrong and then I can [say], ‘Shall we have a hug?’”
This year, the couple welcomed a little boy into their lives — and Mike couldn't be happier.
"I was really keen on having a boy but then Mia came along," he said, referring to his eldest child. "By the time Lena came I wasn't bothered if I had another girl because I'd had this little bundle of joy in Mia. It was happy days."
"The third was very fast," he shared of Lucas' birth. "She [Zara] was lying on her side saying, 'it's never going to work' then it went and within 20 minutes the baby had come and I was sat on my sofa watching rugby with my little boy. I'm no longer surrounded by just women in my house!"
When asked if the two would renew their vows — they got married in July 2011 — Mike replied, "Yeah, I think I would."
