Meghan Has No 'Guilt' Over Princess Kate: Hollywood Duchess Feels Future Queen Should Have 'Backed Her' as Fellow 'Outsider'
Meghan Markle does not feel any kind of remorse for Kate, Princess of Wales, due to their rocky dynamic "from their very first meeting," according to a palace insider.
"Meghan doesn’t feel guilty about Kate, because she feels that Kate should’ve been the one person in the royal family to back her against every difficulty," royal author Tom Quinn added when discussing the two senior royals with an outlet.
"Apart from anything else, Meghan knew Kate was an outsider, so she just couldn’t understand why Kate always towed the royal line rather than supporting her, Meghan, the other outsider," he added. "Kate’s cancer diagnosis has been a real shock for Meghan, but she can see no way to patch up the relationship simply because it has become so poisonous."
He continued: "She also doesn’t want people saying that she is trying to make things up with Kate just because Kate is ill. Meghan still feels Kate was in the wrong and should apologize before they try to build bridges."
This follows a report from February that suggested Meghan "has made the first move to drop the feud by reaching out to Kate, Princess of Wales, in a bid to reunite — and the future queen was "open" to the idea!
"Meghan has contacted Kate and Charles," a source spilled. "So moves are being made to reconcile."
The insider shared how the Duchess of Sussex personally "reached out" to her sister-in-law and father-in-law in an effort to end the years-long animosity between the fractured royal houses. Even though the Princess of Wales and His Majesty are open to the idea, it was made clear that Prince William will likely never forgive Prince Harry. "That one [Harry and William] is a tougher egg to crack, and will probably never happen," another source revealed when discussing the William/Harry rift.
A third source stated how "Meghan is supportive of Harry in all of this, and she wishes the royals — Kate included — the very best."
The first insider also stated how even though the ex-actress wasn't in Britain when Harry visited on February 6, she did persuade her husband to "spend time" with his ailing dad, and tell him how much he loves him. The Duke of Sussex spent only one hour (some reports claim 45 minutes) with King Charles III.
After Kate released her "emotional" video revealing her cancer battle on March 22, Harry and Meghan said in a statement: "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."
Marie Claire reported on Quinn's comments.
