Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been happily married since 2018. Despite the ups and downs they faced in the royal fold, the couple have emerged stronger from their ordeal. Markle’s former friend, Lizzie Cundy, spoke about the love they share for each other. She revealed that Markle, who had once wished for a famous British boyfriend, had agreed that ‘Harry was a catch’ in text messages.
Markle and Harry first met in 2016 on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. Shortly thereafter, the former actress fell head over heels for him. Cundy recalled a conversation between the Duchess and herself during their early courting days. Speaking to The Daily Express UK, she said, “When I heard about Harry I said, ‘What a catch’ and she said, ‘Yeah I know!'” She also addressed people calling Markle a 'social climber.' She agreed, “You want to be with someone people look up to and you are proud to be on the arm of.” She agreed that Prince Harry was actually the 'catch of the century.'
Cundy also revealed details of what Markle was looking for in a partner. She claimed that Markle wanted "a boyfriend and she wouldn’t mind [if he were] an English guy” before she met The Prince. The pal recounted that the Suits star found London much better than Canada as "there wasn’t much to do” in the latter country. Aside from looking for a 'famous' boyfriend, she also wanted to 'make contacts' because of which she’d often socialize with the cast of Made in Chelsea. Cundy told the outlet, “We were having a girly chat and then she said, 'Do you know any famous guys? I'm single and I really love English men.' So I said, 'We'll go out and find you, someone.'” The friendship between the two has now reportedly soured, with them no longer being on speaking terms.
It’s no secret that Markle was smitten with Prince Harry during their courtship, and it turns out he was just as enamored with her. As per People magazine, Harry at the time had admitted that he didn't know who she was, but fell head over heels for her soon after. He said, “I fell into her life and the fact that she will be unbelievably good at the job part of it as well is obviously a huge relief to me because she’ll be able to deal with everything else that comes with it.” During their infamous Oprah Winfrey interview, Markle also revealed that they secretly exchanged wedding vows 'three days before' their actual wedding. “This thing, this spectacle was for the world, but we wanted our union between us,” she explained to the veteran host.
However, after 8 years together and having welcomed two children, rumors are now rife that the couple may be heading toward a divorce. The pair have been seen at fewer public engagements together. An explosive article by Vanity Fair also revealed that Markle's team has allegedly floated the idea of a post-divorce tell-all book. However, none of the rumors have been confirmed by the couple.
