Meghan Markle Got 'Upset' When She Sampled Food For Her Wedding Reception — But Queen Elizabeth Put Her In Her Place, Author Claims
Before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry walked down the aisle in 2018, the former actress was not happy when she tried a certain dish for the wedding reception.
"Meghan got very upset when she felt that she could taste egg in a dish when she was told there was no egg in there, and she said, 'No, I can taste it, I can taste there's egg in this dish,'" author Katie Nicholl claimed.
According to Nicholl, Queen Elizabeth walked in on the incident and "quietly took Meghan to the side," where she apparently told the TV star, 40, that the royal family does not speak to people "like that."
Meghan and Prince Harry left the royal family in 2020, and while speaking to Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, they both couldn't say enough good things about the matriarch, 95.
"It's hard for people to distinguish the two because it's a family business, there's the family, and then there are the people that are running the institution, those are two separate things and it's important to be able to compartmentalize that because the Queen, for example, has always been wonderful to me," the TV star explained.
The mom-of-two also brought up how the monarch went out of the way to be kind to her when they made an appearance in 2018.
"I mean, we had one of our first joint engagement together. She asked me to join her, and I was on the train," she recalled. "And we have breakfast together that morning and she gave me a beautiful gift and I just really loved being in her company, and I remember we were in the car and she gave me some beautiful pearl earrings and a matching necklace, and we were in the car going between engagements."
"And she has a blanket that sits across her, her knees, for warmth and it was chilly and she was like, 'Meghan, come on.' And put it over my knees as well. And it made me think of my grandmother, where she's always been warm and inviting and really welcoming," she continued.
