Meghan Markle Dishes on Thanksgiving Surprises! Duchess Reveals Holiday Secrets With Prince Harry and Kids
In a rare interview, Meghan Markle, 43, spoke candidly about her Thanksgiving plans with Prince Harry, 40, and their two kids, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet Diana, 3.
The former actress told Marie Claire, that she and the family are aiming for a "pretty low-key" autumn holiday along with her mom, Doria Ragland, with whom she is "so close."
Meghan shared how she and her family and any guests always have "something fun to do" on Thanksgiving Day after the meal is finished.
"Like any other family you spend time having a great meal and then what do you do?" the reluctant HRH added. "Play games, all the same stuff, someone brings a guitar — fun. Every single holiday is a new adventure."
She dished how Archie and Lilibet always have "carrots for reindeer" as the Christmas season begins.
The Suits alum even revealed a famous guest she and Harry once hosted during a past Thanksgiving.
"Like many of us, I think you always make sure there’s room at the table for your friends who don’t have family, which is really key," Meghan observed before sharing how feminist activist icon Gloria Steinem once sat at the Sussex holiday table.
This follows reports from September that suggested Charles, 9th Earl Spencer, Princess Diana's younger brother, invited the Sussex family to spend Christmas 2024 at his Althorp estate in England.
"Charles [Spencer] has invited Harry, Meghan and the children to Althorp this Christmas," a reported Spencer family source shared. "It's far too early to say whether they will take him up on it, but the offer is there if they want it."
Each year since their last royal Christmas in 2018, Harry and Meghan have reportedly received an invite to stay at Sandringham House in Norfolk, where the royal family spend the festive season. However, the 2022 and 2023 Sussex invites remain in dispute, both of which were the first two Christmases under King Charles III.
"Honestly, I think the King stopped inviting them to things because they consistently turned the invitations down for years," a palace source shared about where His Majesty stands on extending visitation offers to Team Sussex. "It doesn't have to automatically mean that he loathes them for good — it's still his youngest son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren at the end of the day."
This led the Spencer family insider to add, "There hasn't been an invitation extended to Sandringham just yet, but that doesn't mean there won't be one forthcoming. It would be highly unlikely if there was an invitation extended [to Sandringham] and I don't think they [the Sussexes) would take them up on it anyway."
