Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'Rub Brand' in Prince William and Kate's Faces Amid Royal Health Struggles
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are "insatiable" when it comes to promoting themselves. With the recent premiere of the ex-actress' brand American Riviera Orchard and the Duke of Sussex' interviews and tours, royal expert Tom Bower shared how Prince William and an ill Kate, Princess of Wales, is "deeply upset" by the pair's "brand operation" being "rubbed in their faces" as the future queen struggles to prevent a cancer diagnosis.
"Not only is there the pressure on William, but also the constant sniping from California," he added. "I'm sure he’s furious with Harry, he’s behaved appallingly."
The Princess of Wales shared in late March that she was undergoing chemotherapy treatments after an area of her abdomen was revealed to have been cancerous before her surgery on January 16. This followed the monarch himself, King Charles III's revelation of being diagnosed with an unknown form of cancer on February 5. A shortage of working royals ensued as the Prince of Wales broke with tradition and put his family before the Crown in his dedication to care for his ailing wife.
During these struggles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took to the PR circuit to promote the Suits stars' new venture and their upcoming Netflix projects.
Bower added: "Not only by the way he left England and exploited his royal connections but also his book — the things he said about the Waleses were so outrageous, rude, unfair and in my opinion, untrue. It’s a real struggle for the Waleses."
Meghan's launch of her venture in March was labeled "insensitive" by her former pal, Lizzie Cundy, which Bower also agrees with. "One just always feels like there may be some sort of secret glee in Montecito," the author observed. "While they’re establishing this so-called brand Sussex, the family here is going through torment. After Charles' diagnosis, Harry came over for half an hour, and that’s it, he’s done nothing else."
He concluded: "I can imagine that Kate and William are deeply upset by having the Sussexes' brand operation rubbed in their face while they're going through this tragedy."
Despite a rough start to the first and second quarters of 2024, the Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly "on the mend" when it comes to their dedication to the Crown William will one day wear. The future monarch resumed his royal duties in late April after a period of isolation with his ill wife as their three children enjoyed their spring break from school.
Kate is also "getting ready to resume her role," according to a palace insider. The future queen reportedly read a report recently for her Early Childhood charitable initiative with the Royal Foundation. The source further spilled that Her Royal Highness will likely step back into her public role "sometime this summer."
The Sun reported on Bower's remarks.
