Nearly five years to the day after "Megxit," reports claim that Prince Harry's wish for a royal reunion was "destroyed" by Meghan Markle in early 2024.

Royal expert Tom Quinn revealed the Duchess' veto came after her husband allegedly wanted to return to Britain to "help out" King Charles III in a part-time capacity after his cancer diagnosis last February.

Meghan Markle was allegedly not in favor of Prince Harry helping out a sick King Charles.

"Harry knows he will never be allowed to be a permanent part-time working royal staying six months in the States and then six months in the U.K." he said. "The family no longer trust him and, besides, Meghan is absolutely against it. There is far too much bad blood now for it to be even a remote possibility."

"He is extremely content with his life in California, and it’s not as if the royal family has shown the faintest interest in welcoming him home," royal author Christopher Andersen also revealed after the monarch's illness went public.

"Even if Harry wanted to pitch in while his father, the king, is battling cancer and [his sister-in-law] Kate Middleton is temporarily out of commission, [his brother] Prince William won’t allow it, pure and simple," the expert explained. "The situation remains the same: a royal game of chicken. Who will be the first to give in? At the moment, it’s a complete stalemate."

The drama Andersen mentioned has been swirling around the monarchy ever since Harry and Meghan left the U.K. in early 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were infamously booed by crowds at a London event on June 3, 2022.

"Whatever resentment [the royal family] harbors toward Harry is only half the resentment they harbor toward Meghan," Andersen observed. "Conversely, Harry is a fierce defender of his wife, and I can’t imagine he’d be willing to resume any royal duties knowing that Meghan remains persona non grata in royal circles."

During negotiations five years ago, which the late Queen Elizabeth II overheard during the twilight of her reign, the future celeb circuit royals reportedly both claimed they wanted to work "part-time" as royals. The revered monarch was said to be "confounded" by this proposition since being a senior royal means you "serve the nation for life fully," as one palace insider put it.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said of the relocation rumors, "This was decided by the Sandringham agreement with the late Queen. He has given up his patronages. Also, if he were to resume royal duties, it would become something of a circus revolving around him and Meghan."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex last attended a royal Christmas in 2018.

Although many top royal experts feel that a Sussex reunion is "impossible," there are a scant few who hope that the California celebrity royals can rejoin the monarchy of their titles "someday," a royal source observed.
