Meghan Markle's mom, Doria Ragland, is "overwhelmed to welcome her new granddaughter," a source told Page Six.
Since Ragland lives close to her daughter and Prince Harry, the outlet reported that she will be helping out with the newborn going forward.
In 2019, after Archie was born, the yoga teacher flew to the U.K. to meet her new grandson.
According to Finding Freedom authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, "Doria messaged [her ex-husband] Thomas [Markle] with the news, which Meghan had asked her to. The new mother did not want him to find out after the rest of the world. But she didn’t want to know whether her father replied to her mother’s text.”
Meghan and Harry announced the exciting news on June 6.
"It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet 'Lili' Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world," a statement from the couple said.
"Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home," the statement said. "Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales."
Lili's moniker is also a nod to Doria, who called Meghan "flower" growing up.
"Meg, MM, M&M, and Flower (which my mom has called me since I was little)," Meghan wrote on her now-defunct website, The Tig.
Meanwhile, Meghan's estranged father also reacted to the milestone.
"I am very pleased with the announcement of the safe and healthy delivery of my new granddaughter, and I wish her and her mother all my love and best wishes," he shared.
