Before Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, there were two habits she hoped to quit—something she jokingly dubbed a bit 'unladylike'. It turns out that Markle had a few insecurities, just like the rest of us. Once, while discussing her New Year’s resolutions, the Duchess revealed that the said habit usually surfaced after a couple of drinks.
As reported by the Daily Express, in January 2016, Markle shared on her blog, The Tig, "Run a marathon. Stop biting my nails. Stop swearing. Re-learn French. These make up my New Year's resolution list nearly every year (actually, every). The marathon hasn't happened. The swearing comes in lulls triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple of drinks." As reported by the Irish Star, she added, "Then there's the French language I studied through high school and then lost as I immersed myself in speaking Spanish with the Argentinians during my stint in Buenos Aires.”
The Duchess continued, "I have put my little Rosetta Stone headset in my eager ears every year, resolving to do interviews en francais, but much to my chagrin, it hasn't stuck. And when it comes to the biting of the nails, well, it still happens with a turbulent flight or a stressful day. It's unladylike. But then again, so is the swearing. Dammit." Hence, she shared that that year, the only thing she was aiming to do was to approach life 'playfully' and to keep her 'standards high' but her self-acceptance even higher. She stressed, "My New Year's resolution is to leave room for magic."
Before marrying Harry and joining the royal family, Markle, in her lifestyle blog, shared everything from her ideas to her favorite recipes and life hacks. As an actress on Suits at the time, she also shared candid posts to give fans a glimpse into her life. The blog site also featured conversations that Markle had with her famous friends, like Serena Williams and Priyanka Chopra. Markle decided to close The Tig in 2017, just a few months before her engagement to Harry became public news, as reported by The Mirror.
As per legal documents, after her marriage, an LA lawyer, Marjorie Witter Norman, submitted a fresh application to trademark the name of Markle's former blog. The trademark request was made by a Delaware company, Frim Fram Inc., which connected with Markle’s business manager, Andrew Meyer. This request sparked speculation that the Duchess of Sussex, who stepped away from royal duties with her husband, Harry, in 2020, might relaunch her blog someday. Interestingly, Markle has also trademarked a few other names, like that of her daughter Princess Lilibet.
