Meghan Markle's return to social media earlier this year has been anything but quiet. On January 1, 2025, she reactivated her Instagram to promote her new business ventures. Beyond personal branding, she has also been using the platform to fire back at critics. Recently, the Duchess of Sussex posted a savage two-word Instagram story, in response to Jimmy Fallon mocking her new Netflix series.

The post, meant to promote her lifestyle brand, As Ever, showed her slicing strawberries, which she captioned, “Bite-sized bliss.” Her clever phrasing was a response to a recent episode of The Tonight Show that had the veteran comedian criticizing her DIY pretzel bags. According to the Daily Mail, he quipped, “Meghan Markle has a new Netflix show called 'With Love, Meghan,' where she teaches you how to make pretzel bags and turn your backyard into an Etsy store.” The host continued to rip into her Netflix series during the Trivia Night segment.

Steve Higgins quizzed Fallon about the Duchess’s eight-part series. As reported by the Express, he said, “Ready, you're going to get this. What is the number one question that mystifies scientists?” Fallon quipped, “Is there life on another planet?” Higgins revealed, “Ooh, no. Why does Meghan Markle make her own pretzel bags?” Fallon took the question as an opportunity to throw more shade on Markle. He said, “That's interesting. She takes it (pretzels) from one bag and puts it in another bag, and that confuses people.” In light of the same, Markle posted her snarky two-word dig two days after the episode aired.

Fallon’s mocking of Markle’s Netflix series came as a surprise as the host is on good terms with her husband. Last year he welcomed Prince Harry in a funny episode titled, Prince Harry Visits Jimmy Fallon's New Haunted Maze Experience 'Tonightmares' which saw the royal scream his lungs out and swear his way through the maze. However, Fallon's take on the show has been echoed by numerous critics. Ex-Vanity Fair editor, Tina Brown, dubbed it as 'fake perfection.' She told the Daily Mail, “Meghan has come out with a show about fake perfection just when the zeitgeist has turned raucously against it.” Despite the naysayers, With Love, Meghan was watched by over 526,000 households, according to data polled by Samba TV.

Interestingly, Markle made another strawberry post that was not at all well received as it featured her daughter, Lilibet. Critics took to X (formerly Twitter) and zeroed in on the detail that the strawberries Lilibet held were ‘dirtless’ despite being just picked from her garden. They accused Markle of curating a staged aesthetic. Others slammed her for using her children as props to promote her brand.
