Meghan Markle Is 'Incredibly Envious': Ex-Actress' Envy Saw Her 'Disrupt' Prince Harry's Bond With His Family
Prince Harry and a then-Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, used to share a close bond before the arrival of Meghan Markle into the royal fold in 2016.
"Every time he had a new girlfriend, the first person that would meet her would be Kate," royal author and Editor-in-Chief of Majesty magazine Ingrid Seward told an outlet. "And then Meghan came into the mix, and it was disruptive. It wasn't like the other girlfriends."
"I think that Meghan must have been incredibly envious and then jealous of Kate," she added.
Harry and Meghan started dating during the summer of 2016, and by the fall of 2017, wedding plans were already being mapped out between the military hero prince and supporting actor on Suits. It has been reported that there was immediate "tension" between Prince William, Duchess Kate, and Meghan.
"Kate knew from the start that Meghan was bad news," a former palace courtier during Queen Elizabeth II's reign spilled. "William is also very astute, as he gets that trait from Princess Diana, but he gave Meghan a chance before finding out how she operates."
They continued: "Her late Majesty also figured Meghan out in the first meeting, and Prince Philip grew to despise her very quickly. So it wasn't a matter of 'Meghan duped the royals.' They all knew, but they also knew that she had manipulated Harry like a dog begging for a piece of meat. There was [also at that time] Kate and Harry's concern that there was some kind of underlying attraction between William and Meghan, which was ridiculous on their parts to assume that."
In his 2023 memoir, Spare, the Duke of Sussex wrote about how his brother and sister-in-law's dislike of his bride-to-be, and later, his royal wife. In June 2018, one month following his and Meghan's popular wedding, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over for tea.
Kate confronted Meghan over her alleged comment claiming the future queen had "baby brain," during the now infamous Princess Charlotte bridesmaid dress fiasco. Kate thought Meghan was calling her "stupid," but the former actress insisted to her sister-in-law that she was jokingly referring to Kate's out-of-whack hormones as she was close to giving birth to Prince Louis.
The royal rebel then wrote that at that moment, William pointed his finger in Meghan's face and said: "Well, it's rude, Meghan."
At that point, the Duchess of Sussex firmly replied to her brother-in-law and future king: "If you don’t mind, move your finger away from my face."
The Suits star also reportedly found it difficult to follow royal protocol as it "clashed with her feminist values," according to a royal insider. The American-turned-British royal "despised" having to walk paces behind Kate, Camilla, and even the reigning monarch during her brief royal career, Queen Elizabeth II.
Daily Express reported on Seward's remarks.
