Meghan Markle's 'Dirty Game': Former Actress Would Be 'Eaten Alive' If Duchess Jumped Into Politics
Vice President Kamala Harris could become the first female American president, and sources say Meghan Markle is "excited" about stepping into the political circus thanks to this possibility.
"Royalty in Britain is a circus, yes, but American politics is a particular style of mental torture," a British aristocracy insider dished. "Even with all the negative headlines thrown at her since 2018... I don't think Meghan has what it takes to survive stateside political campaigns."
This news led royal author Robert Jobson to tell The Sun's Matt Wilkinson, "I think if she got involved in American politics with the title of the Duchess of Sussex, she would be eaten alive. She might think she's got what it takes to make it, but the Democrats would run a mile."
"I just think it's a dirty game and if she thinks she's been badly treated by the British press, it will be an awful lot worse if you enter the world of politics in America," he continued.
The Duchess of Sussex's so-called political aspirations in America have been met with conflicting reports ever since she voiced opinions in the 2020 presidential election. Her official spokespeople claim the Duchess "has no interest" in running, but analysts point out that this is a customary "nothing to see here" tactic everyone uses when speculation about their political ambitions picks up.
President Meghan Markle is three words that many analysts feel is a real possibility, except for one who finds the idea "utterly ridiculous."
"Meghan Markle has zero qualifications for running for president or public office, and has zero chance of ever making it to the White House," former policy advisor to Rudy Giuliani and Margaret Thatcher, Nile Gardiner, shared on X.
Gardiner's remarks follow those of Erika Alexander, who acted alongside Meghan in Suits and recently commented that the ex-working royal seems poised for a political future, suggesting she could be on her way to the White House. Alexander praised the Duchess, calling her a "diplomat" and an "ambassador."
Since non-elected hereditary royals mixing in electoral politics is a no-go, Meghan's running for American political office could set off a huge constitutional crisis in the U.K. However, her hopes of becoming America's head of state revolve around being able to "sell authenticity."
However, believability is "crucial" with anyone who seeks the highest office in America, a political insider shared, and Meghan and Harry reportedly "struggle" with making that behavior realistic.
Jobson concluded, "Just do things that are authentic, and just do things that are real rather than staged with loads of outfit changes. I think they need to work out what they want to do. They don't come across as particularly authentic. I think they could just do some real work in America maybe and people will start to believe you."
