The Duke and Duchess of Sussex being interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, March 7, 2021.

The Duchess, who still maintains her royal title, sat down for a rare interview with The New York Times on August 28, and despite claiming she enjoys her "isolated but structured" life in California, there could be some certain "regrets" as well.

"Meghan does regret certain statements that she made," royal and showbiz commentator Kinsey Schofield dished about the high-profile interview. "She and Prince Harry deeply regret the royal racist controversy," she added. "Meghan wanted the takeaway from their Oprah interview to be about her mental health. And I think Meghan regretted sitting down with The Cut [in 2022] because she provided endless commentary for her critics."

During the interview, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that she had multiple brands she was working on, and this is in addition to American Riviera Orchard, which is rumored to launch next spring fully. "Investing in them has helped me line up for this chapter where I’m investing in myself," the former actress said.

The Duchess of Sussex spoke about her life in an August 2024 interview with 'The New York Times.'

"I would describe Meghan’s personal life in California as isolated but structured," Schofield continued. "The qualifications to be her friend are no secret… she typically gravitates towards people that can offer her something, contribute to her personal goals."

Schofield also shared how Meghan "requires trust and privacy" before further adding, "Her friends group is small. She is friendly with Montecito locals, as you never know someone’s connection or status. Everyone in Montecito has accomplished something significant to be in a position to call it home."

Reportedly, Meghan has structured a system and "small empire" around her in Montecito that ensures "absolute privacy" as the mother of two allegedly works from home on her brands and even her Netflix work.

The Duchess of Sussex is 'going through the hurdles' of trademarking her new brand.

"Sightings of the couple are rare and advances towards establishing [connections] with the Sussexes are mostly rejected," Schofield further observed. "Meghan and Harry are often seen with friends dining at an upscale steakhouse named Lucky’s. They also enjoy an Italian restaurant called Tre Lune in Montecito."

According to the host of the "To Di For Daily" podcast, the Duchess falters when it comes to "trying to pretend" there is no underlying continuing drama with the family who made her royalty. "It is important to Meghan that it appears she has moved on, and the drama is beneath her," Schofield stated. "But that is not the reality. There is still a resentment that fuels a lot of the work she has done over the last three and a half years."

Meghan is reportedly working on projects for Netflix and a new podcast set for a 2025 release.
