Exclusive: Meghan Markle Could Make 'One Last Massive Comeback' to 'Break Into Hollywood Scene'
Meghan Markle is not one for quitting, and the former actress-turned-British royal Duchess will likely use 2024 as her chance to finally tackle the hard road to conquering Hollywood stardom.
"We might witness another baby on the cards, or Meghan dropping everything for one massive comeback in one last effort to break into the Hollywood scene, having fallen out of favor," royal and entertainment commentator Mark Boardman exclusively tells The Royal Observer.
News of another Sussex baby would certainly place Meghan firmly in the limelight, but the ex-working royal may want to use this year as an opportunity to (hopefully) emerge as a star and worthwhile brand.
"Meghan, far from embracing a traditional role as a full-time mom, is charting her own course, making multiple public appearances with attempts to gain more exposure and avoid being the plus one any longer," Boardman states.
The Montecito Duchess is still part of WME, having signed with the talent agency in April 2023. There has been rampant speculation that no project announcements since is a bad sign, but some feel that it could be a signal that Meghan is working on something "huge" — but it is not likely to be acting.
"However, her aspirations for a comeback in showbiz with her Suits cast seem hampered by strained relationships, potentially hindering her ability to re-establish connections that could boost her career," the founder of MarkMeets.com explains.
He continues: "Despite setbacks in 2023, Meghan's enduring popularity, especially from her role in the legal drama, remains a valuable asset that streaming platforms continue to appreciate," he says. The Duchess of Sussex's biggest starring role broke a Netflix record when it premiered on the streamer in June 2023.
Boardman also observes how "Meghan faces the challenge of reviewing her public image and defining her future path, necessitating a strategic approach. The potential for success lies in carefully selecting projects, possibly with TV cameos leading to minor movie roles, and aligning her public persona with her aspirations."
If Meghan manages to land starring roles in movies, that would be a first for the British royal family. The only other major royal to fit that bill was Princess Grace of Monaco, who was a major Tinseltown star in the 1950s before she married Monaco's Sovereign Prince.
But Meghan's identity is seemingly tied to a brand that binds her with Prince Harry, and as a duo, there may be a lot of baggage to shake off before any attempts at stardom begin.
"The reported fallout with the Beckhams and the Golden Globes' humorous jabs add layers to their public image, indicating the substantial work that lies ahead," the royal expert shares. "Understanding how these dynamics may influence their personal and professional choices in 2024 promises to be a compelling discussion."
