Lady Gabriella Windsor Moves Out of Home Shared With Late Husband Thomas Kingston and Into Kensington Palace
A "heartbroken and emotionally shattered" Lady Gabriella Windsor has moved out of the home she shared with her late spouse, Thomas Kingston, who took his own life on February 25, at his parents' home in the Cotswolds.
Sources close to the grieving junior royal shared that she "didn't want to be alone in the home they shared" after the "traumatic" circumstances surrounding his passing.
Lady Gabriella has reportedly moved into a vacant apartment in Kensington Palace, which is the official residence of numerous royals, including Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales. It is also the main residence of her parents, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, whom the royal wished to live near.
A source disclosed: "They [Prince and Princess Michael of Kent] wanted Ella to be with them, and she didn't want to be alone in the home she shared with Tom. All of us are rallying round, and she's going to be OK."
Lady Gabriella is the daughter of the Kent royals, who rarely represents King Charles III and Queen Camilla at royal events seldomly. Thomas and Lady Gabriella were married in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2019, in a ceremony attended by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. The aristocratically-titled writer for The London Magazine met Thomas, a financier, and became engaged for marriage in 2018.
A statement on behalf of Lady Gabriella and Thomas' family at the time of his passing read: "It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother. Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family, and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing."
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson further shared: "The King and the Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family. In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family."
King Charles is currently battling cancer and has not appeared at a public event since Easter Sunday.
Thomas' death comes at what many are calling a "grim time" for the British royal family. Analysts cite His Majesty's "dire" cancer diagnosis and Kate, Princess of Wales' still unknown diagnosis of cancer, which she is currently receiving preventative treatments. The ongoing "royal shortage" also has fans concerned about the institution since Charles and Kate's illnesses have highlighted just how few working members there are.
Lady Gabriella is not a "working member" of the royal family despite being a part of it.
