King Charles' 'Tired' and 'Alarming' Appearance During Samoan Ceremony Sparks Worry Among Royal Fans: Watch
King Charles III's health has once again taken center stage thanks to a video on X that shows the ill, 75-year-old-monarch looking "tired" and "dozing off in public."
The sovereign and Queen Camilla, 77, are currently touring Samoa, which hosted this year's Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. Although the King's appearance seemed to go over well with fans during the Australia leg of the tour, the Polynesian heat seems to be taking its toll.
"What is going on with his hands?" one commenter on the platform asked. "They are bright red and swollen."
Another pointed out, "His hands have been swollen a few years now. The travel and the heat over there won’t be helping much. Same with her swollen feet. What a shambles."
Finally, someone else bluntly observed, "Seriously though? Let William & Kate take over already. This reign for life nonsense is not looking good these days."
His Majesty's physicians allowed the monarch to temporarily pause his chemotherapy treatments for the 11-day tour, which some analysts said was potentially "risky."
The Queen is rumored to be afflicted with foot pain, which is easily excusable "when you consider her age and the extensive walking these tours require," a PR analyst shared.
During their time in the Aussie capital, Their Majesties made a stop at the city’s famous Opera House, where they greeted a large crowd of enthusiastic fans who had gathered for hours to catch a glimpse of the royal couple. The consort was snapped walking barefoot during these events, reportedly due to foot swelling. Later, they took to the water, boarding a boat in Sydney Harbor to participate in an Australian Navy fleet review.
"Cancer, it really is a b------" the Queen's son, Tom Parker-Bowles, 49, told an outlet in September. "The King's having the best treatment. He's a great man and a tough man, and you've just got to get on with it. Of course, anyone who has someone they love with cancer is going to worry."
In response to how the Queen was handling her husband's struggle, Parker-Bowles said, "She's tough, my mother."
Despite any concerns about his prolonged treatment, the monarch is "not slowing down" in a role that lasts for a lifetime, in sickness or good health.
Buckingham Palace recently announced, "The Amir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, accompanied by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Tuesday, December 3, to Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The King and Queen will host the State Visit at Buckingham Palace.
