He 'Won't Hold Back': Kate Middleton's Black Sheep Uncle 'Poses Problem' for Royals as Businessman Inks Deal to Appear on Reality Show
Catherine, Princess of Wales' "disgrace" of an uncle, Gary Goldsmith, is set to appear on Celebrity Big Brother, which "poses a problem" for the monarchy.
"I think the move could be a problem for the royal family," journalist Lee Cohen told an outlet. "The royal family have a way of going about things that are very deliberate and have served the country well."
"When you have people going off-piste, which is exactly what Harry and Meghan have done, and we see all the destruction that has caused," Cohen added. "He appears not to be supportive of Harry and Meghan, and I think there’s a danger in that."
"I think it's cringe-making, very embarrassing, the trouble is he doesn't like Harry and Meghan at all, some of these comments will fall onto Catherine and she's had a lot against her, she's not well, she's in hospital," royal expert Angela Levin told an outlet recently.
She continued: "I think when you come out of an operation, you're quite vulnerable, and this could upset her enormously. In principle, people who don't like her could say she encouraged him to do it, but she would have done nothing of the kind. It's very embarrassing."
"Gary is champing at the bit to get on Celebrity Big Brother," a source spilled. "He finalized the terms of his deal today and can’t wait to enter the house. The CBB team loves him because of his link to Kate and the fact that he’s confident and loud and won’t hold back. He’s made it clear he will talk about everything and anything, and he’s pretty outspoken when it comes to Harry and Meghan."
They continued: "Gary also holds a deep affection for Kate and Wills and will be able to give a fascinating insight into what it’s really like being related to the future King and Queen. He could be TV gold and ITV knows it. The deal he signed is for good money."
"It's very hard being a royal, and I don't know if this is a good idea. I don't think he's doing it for money; he's a multi-millionaire, maybe just to be heard, but that makes it worse. The trouble with these programs is they don't remember there are cameras running all the time, and he could say something inappropriate, and it can be quite dangerous," Levin added.
She concluded: "It's not appropriate behavior really."
This follows news from November 2023 that Kate, Princess of Wales, asked her uncle to avoid attacking Prince Harry in his planned autobiography that will tell the story of the Middleton family. "There are disclosures they would never forgive him for if they were ever to be made public. William and Kate are trying to avoid that at all costs.
