The Slow Burn Comeback of Kate Middleton: Princess of Wales Will Return to Royal Life 'in Her Own Way and at Her Own Pace'
Catherine, Princess of Wales, 42, is slowly but surely reintegrating herself into royal life after beating cancer in early September.
"You can’t say she is back... but she is coming back," royal author Sally Bedell Smith told People. "She is doing it in her own way and at her own pace, and carefully."
Her Royal Highness attended the Festival of Remembrance Service and Remembrance Sunday ceremony in London on Saturday, November 9, and Sunday, November 10, where she won raves for her style even when wearing solid black on both occasions.
The future queen is still one of the most popular senior British royals and is finally reclaiming her cherished health and wellness routine after completing chemotherapy. Multiple royal analysts have shared how the wife of the heir to the throne is recapturing "her glow."
"From what I understand, Catherine is doing very well. She is back training at the gym and doing all the things she wanted to do," royal expert Robert Jobson told an outlet. "I do think that we will start to see a lot more of her and that she will carry out engagements as well as continuing to work behind the scenes."
"Rather than travel all over the country all the time, like she used to, I think she will concentrate on more impactful events," he added. "If she has her way, she will come back in stages and do things that are important to her."
The future queen is set to likely only appear at grand royal events with charity work appearances likely receiving "video visits" as she finds her way back to her old routine.
"Her focus will be on her family, while still managing to do the key events," the author continued. "I think William is very keen that she does stage a comeback, but I don’t think that necessarily signals that we’re going to get a big tranche of engagements, one after the other."
Before her Remembrance ceremony appearances, HRH visited the Southport Community Center on October 10 with her husband in what was her first royal engagement since completing chemotherapy.
Her Royal Highness spoke with first responders who assisted victims of a deadly knife attack that targeted children in Southport, England, on July 29, and got candid and "emotional," which reminded some of Princess Diana's public displays of empathy.
"It was one of the most emotional and candid conversations I’ve ever listened to on a royal visit," royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills shared. "[Kate] was engaged and visibly moved by what she was hearing from the first responders as they bravely shared their experiences. With William alongside her, you could see that they had both wanted to travel to Southport to show the community that they hadn’t been forgotten."
Kate is expected to regularly return to royal work after the new year.
