The royal family is thinking about Prince Philip on Thursday, June 10 β the day he would have turned 100.
Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, uploaded two new photos to Instagram of the late Duke.
"Remembering The Duke of Edinburgh, on what would have been his 100th birthday," the couple began the post before describing the snaps. "π· 1 - The Duke transfers his role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Rifles to The Duchess of Cornwall, during a joint ceremony at Windsor Castle and Highgrove in July 2020 (PA). π· 2 - The young Prince Charles welcomes his father home from a trip to Malta in 1951 (PA)."
Camilla spent the day at the Garden Museum, where she interacted with volunteers from Floral Angels, a charity that recycles donated flowers from events and puts them in hospices and shelters in London.
"The Duchess of Cornwall is given a bouquet containing rosemary β a sign of remembrance on what would have been the 100th birthday of The Duke of Edinburgh," the message said, along with a photo of Camilla holding a bouquet. "'Iβm very honoured to be here, to be doing something I know they both would have appreciated.' - The Duchess on The Duke of Edinburgh, and her father, Major Bruce Shand, who passed away 15 years ago tomorrow."
Then, Prince William and Kate Middleton posted a photo of Queen Elizabeth surrounded by flowers.
"Today we remember His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, on what would have been his 100th birthday," they wrote. "Last week, The Queen was gifted a Duke of Edinburgh rose by @The_RHS, of which Her Majesty is Patron. Visit @RoyalFamily to see more."
Princess Eugenie β who gave her son the middle name Philip β also spoke fondly of her grandfather.
"Thinking of Grandpa on what would have been his 100th birthday," she captioned a photo of her grandparents.
