Kate Middleton's Hopeful Plea: Princess of Wales 'Hurt' by How Royals Fell Apart and Wants Prince William to 'Give Peace a Chance'
Amid a life-changing cancer battle, Kate, Princess of Wales, is reportedly hopeful that Prince William can eventually reconcile with Prince Harry.
"Kate looks at Harry, and she sees a very lost soul," a royal source spilled to an outlet. "She's still incredibly fond of him and so saddened that it's come to this situation where he's completely excommunicated himself from the whole family and there now seems to be this wall that can't be broken down."
The insider added how the future queen feels that "life's too short for grudges" and wants her husband to "give peace a chance."
"She really wants William to try and fix (the relationship), but he's refusing and is adamant that Harry deserves no mercy, that anything they do will just be manipulated by him and Meghan. Kate has never been someone that could just turn off her feelings with a switch, and going through cancer has only made her more sensitive and caring," they added.
The princess reportedly sees Harry as "a brother figure in the true sense of the word."
They further added: "People forget he used to help her when she was having trouble and feeling down, he was always there to cheer her up. Back when she first started dating William, it was Harry that went the most out of his way to make her feel welcome in the family and put her at ease. She can't simply forget all that because of this falling out."
This news conflicts with reports from March that suggested Her Royal Highness has no interest in seeing or talking to her brother-in-law during her own health battle.
"I think there was once a relationship, a friendship, a very close one between Harry and Kate," royal scribe Christopher Andersen dished at that time. "I'm sure he’s concerned about her as well, but I know that she wants to have nothing to do with them."
Her Royal Highness "still feels betrayed" by the fifth in line to the throne, just as the King, and "especially" her husband, Prince William, do. Andersen says "that hasn't changed" one bit, even with the future queen's "scary" abdominal operation on January 16, and the reigning monarch's cancer diagnosis on February 5.
The Duke of Sussex visited his father the day after the news of his illness broke, but "went nowhere near" the Prince and Princess of Wales during his 24-hour trip to Britain. It was also suggested by an anonymous royal courtier that Queen Camilla "wanted nothing at all to do with" Harry during his visit.
Andersen also pointed out how the feud between the former "fab four" of millennial royals seems to be unending. "My understanding is he hasn’t, and it is a stalemate," he observed when asked if Harry has tried to reach out to Kate. "They’re both on opposite sides of this wall and nobody has the courage to leap over it and really make an honest attempt."
