Kate Middleton Is 'Doing Well' Despite Prince William Dropping Out of Event at the Last Minute
Kate, Princess of Wales, is said to be "doing well" by a palace source, but this is despite Prince William pulling out of attending his godfather King Constantine of Greece's funeral. This news also comes amid Kensington Palace refusing to say whether the cause of William's last-minute exit was due to the Princess of Wales.
The news also comes at a time when King Charles III is battling cancer, but it's the future queen that has many royal analysts on alert with this particular cancelation. Her Royal Highness underwent a "successful" yet "serious abdominal operation on January 16.
The day after her procedure, Kensington Palace announced: "The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery," the statement read. "Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter."
"The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible, and her wish that her personal medical information remains private," the statement continued. "Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share."
Her Majesty Queen Camilla formally led the British royals at the funeral service, which took place at St George's Chapel near Windsor Castle. The chapel is the burial site of many monarchs, including King Henry VIII and the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Also in attendance was Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, which didn't go down very well with royal observers on social media. "'Prince Andrew leads…' should not be anywhere next to 'Royal Family.' I’m sorry but this is terrible optics all around," one critic complained on social media, as another shocked viewer said: "Andrew?!!!!!!!!"
As for the Princess if Wales, many fear that even Easter may be too early for her reappearance on the world stage.
It is crucial to address the topic of Kate's potential engagements from a psychological standpoint when she returns to her royal duties," licensed therapist Sophie Cress shared. "Resuming work after a recuperation period, particularly after surgery, necessitates striking a careful balance between mental and physical health. Kate is probably going to ease her way back into her royal responsibilities, giving priority to things that suit her energy and health at the moment."
She continued: "Psychologically speaking, it's critical that Kate maintains her autonomy and sense of control over her schedule as she gradually returns to her duties."
