Kate Middleton All Smiles At Sporty Outing During Prince Harry Court Case
Prince Harry's High Court appearances are ongoing in London, but his sister-in-law, Kate, Princess of Wales, was all-smiles during a rugby match in her hometown area of Maidenhead.
The future queen was named as a possible victim of phone hacking in Harry's witness statement but has decided to "keep calm and carry on," during the hearings. The princess played rugby on Wednesday, June 7, in a role she took over from the Duke of Sussex when he and Meghan Markle left royal life in 2020.
Kate arrived at the match dressed in a sporty ensemble that consisted of a themed, blue t-shirt, sneakers and a pair of dark blue sweatpants with her hair pinned back. The mother-of-three took part in the event to represent the "Shaping Us" campaign to educate parents and parents-to-be on early childhood development.
Her appearance coincided with day 2 of the Duke's cross-examination by the King's Counsel in Britain's High Court. The fifth in line to the throne is suing Mirror Group Newspapers for alleged "unlawful information gathering" on a wide scale. The prince is focusing on the years 1996-2011, and has cited reams of print and online articles during this timescale that he says caused him great "distress."
"Catherine and my brother started dating in 2003," the Duke of Sussex said in his statement. "We occasionally exchanged voicemails in which we discussed private and sensitive matters regarding our family and personal lives. We would also make plans for social arrangements over voicemail."
Kate, like other senior, working members of the royal family, has not acknowledged Harry's lawsuits nor her mention in them. The Duke also brought up his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy several times during his cross-examination, whom he dated for many years while Prince William dated Kate.
Harry's testimony was mostly grievances he felt, as opposed to providing evidence to back up any alleged wrongdoing. "I genuinely feel that in every relationship that I’ve ever had — be that with friends, girlfriends, with family or with the army, there’s always been a third party involved, namely the tabloid press," he shared.
The rugby game was one of many engagements the Princess of Wales has undertaken in recent weeks.
