Prince Harry dated many women before settling down with his wife, Meghan Markle. The Duke, who was once known for his wild party antics, never shied away from PDAs with his girlfriends. His longest known relationship was with businesswoman Chelsy Davy, whom he dated for 7 years. A friend of the Prince revealed that Harry once shared a goodbye hug with Davy at his party, just after Markle left for Canada.
Harry and Davy dated on and off from 2004 to 2011. She was part of a farewell party that Harry’s friends had organised in 2020 before he, too, returned to Canada to be with his wife and son. Speaking to New Idea, a friend of the Duke said, “Harry was beaming when he walked into the room, and everyone was there waiting for him. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw Chelsy.” They added, “He gave her the biggest hug…She and Harry have a serious connection, but I doubt they would ever hook up on anything.”
Harry’s friend claimed that attendees at the party "joked that he didn’t want Meghan tracking him down on GPS." They added, “He’s gotten in trouble with her before for drinking too much and staying out late. Nothing happened between Harry and Chelsy, and deep down, Meghan trusts him.” Davy was reportedly a ‘surprise guest’ at the farewell bash. She also attended Harry and Markle’s fairytale royal wedding in 2018. It is widely reported that the pair had broken off over the public scrutiny surrounding their relationship, particularly on Davy. As reported by The Mirror, she once said, “[Dating Harry] was so full-on: Crazy and scary and uncomfortable…I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn't cope. I was young, I was trying to be a normal kid, and it was horrible.”
Meanwhile, royal expert Katie Nicoll believes that Prince was always going to sever ties with his exes once he married Markle. Speaking to Cosmopolitan, she said, “He had a sort of farewell conversation with Chelsy where he spoke to her to basically say goodbye, and I think probably Cressida and Chelsy both knew that after the wedding they wouldn't see much of Prince Harry.” While Harry invited both his ex-girlfriends, Cressida Bonas and Davy, to his wedding, the latter caught the most attention in the press. Her ‘sombre’ and ‘glum’ expressions at the nuptials led to her being mercilessly mocked by tabloids.
Despite attending her ex-flame’s wedding, Nicoll claims that Davy was less than pleased when Harry decided to marry another woman. Writing for Vanity Fair, she penned about an alleged call between the former couple, “It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on. Chelsy was quite emotional about it all; she was in tears and almost didn’t go to the wedding.” The pair has seemingly remained on good terms following his royal wedding.
